It was one of those New York nights. As a hungry, pre-FW crowd tittered in the drizzly evening, inside Milk Gallery it was an endless summer in celebration of photographer Ben Watts' Mixtape. Sun-dappled imagery lined the walls, models smiled from customized surf boards, and "special guest" Shantell Martin drew her loopy scrawls on the faces and clothing of guests.

There is nothing better then a little art with your music. Last night we checked out New Villager and Caveman, who played the beautiful open space at the Brooklyn Museum.

We spent the day at Internet Week New York yesterday talking about women in digital media, "the new social" and other hot topics with some very smart folks. Wrapping the day at a playboy's paradise of a townhouse in SoHo (synchronized swimmers? Check.) we caught the lovely Caitlin Moe and Mia Moretti doing their thing. We last saw the pair at SXSW. Peep the video here! http://arcade44.tv/news/watch-sxsw-day-four/

Last night we checked out the insanely talented flamenco duo, City of the Sun. BLOWN AWAY. There could not be anything better, than to see young musicians playing tribute AND doing justice to a beloved genre of the past. The gentlemen have a residency at Hotel Chantelle on the LES, every Wednesday. Can't wait to see more from these guys.

Coachella-ella-ella-eh
Well let’s see… Tupac showed up. And with Rihanna reppin’ Thug Life in full Fly Girl mode with Katy Perry dolled up in uber-goth we’d be forgiven to think that the wilds of Indio opened up a wormhole and we all got transported back to the 90s. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
For a glimpse at the scene as Arcader Marie lived it (read: poolside. Smart girl) take a peek of these style snaps from the series of parties that spring up like mushrooms in the California desert every April. Until next year, Arcade Players…!

THIS WEEK IN LIVE MUSIC
We had such a great week for live music! First we checked out 1,2,3 at Mercury Lounge, they were amazing and the lead singer is very easy on the eyes to say the least! Last night we hit up the sold out MHOW show for Alabama Shakes. DAMN! Watch out world. They blew us away. So much soul, too much to be contained! Tonight we will head over to SOB's to check out Shabazz Palaces. Did we mention we love this city? Thanks NYC.

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH: Wild Belle
We were so taken by the brother/sister duo that is Wild Belle. As if their music, wonderfully mellow and sultry, wasn't enough, the siblings are also outrageously charming. We met up with Wild Belle on the porch of the Moonshine Cafe. The two musicians sat back in rocking chairs, perched perfectly in the sun. We talked about inspiration and how the two got their start singing in Church at a young age. Far from prim and proper church tunes, Wild Belle's reggae/soul fusion could make the most rigid audiences move their bodies. We also talked SXSW crushes, causing Natalie Bergman to blush as she told us about a certain drummer she had noticed...but don't worry Natalie, your secret is safe with us.
To watch the exclusive head over to the Arcade!

BEHIND THE SCENES WITH: Chet Faker
We had such a great time hanging with Chet Faker on the W Austin's roof deck. The Australian soul singer was nothing short of a gentleman and was probably one of the most down to earth dudes we have ever met. We talked about the idea of "hype" and he admitted to us how much the whole "buzz" thing kind of put him off. He said that he would rather build a solid audience slowly, then be a "buzz band," only to die out quickly. Chet Faker is in it for the long haul. It was a perfect sunny day when we caught Chet Faker's set. Playing on an outdoor stage, Chet Faker had the entire crowd jamming to his amazing cover of "No Diggity." He told us how he recorded that cover in his own bedroom. The vocals are soft and almost hushed, which he admitted was in part because he was trying to record quietly so as to not disturb his roommate. Whatever he did, it worked. No doubt, we are loving Chet Faker.
