the concept of stranger things as someone (mike wheeler) accidentally bringing their daydreams to life is like. what if you couldn't do escapism. what if you were just a child trying to be imaginative and have fun but instead of letting you escape the mundane it brings the monsters to you. what if innocent people died because of you. what if the people most important to you were constantly in danger precisely because they're important to you. what if you couldn't even have your childhood without doing harm. what if you couldn't care without doing harm. what if you couldn't even attempt to process any of the big emotions you don't understand without doing harm. what if you couldn't imagine things getting better without doing harm. i'd lose my mind too
