I'm a humanities and stem and its weird because i have no clue what I'm doing with half of my work but i have to do it to get the data for the other half. Its torture.
being a humanities major who’s friends with stem majors is so funny because you’ll ask your friends what they’re doing today and they’re like “UGH it’s so stressful i have to stabilize the reactor core for my nuclear power midterm and then i have to build the supercomputer from i have no mouth yet i must scream for my electrical engineering homework :/ what about you” and you’re like “oh well i have to read a fun little book and write an essay about gender.” and they still think you have it worse

This is why fieldwork safety is of utmost importance. I’ve been in situations where it felt like my safety was not the primary concern, and I constantly worried about things like this happening.
OSHA guidelines are written in blood. They’re there for a reason. Don’t ever let someone convince you to compromise on your safety. (link to tweet)

Material elements used in historical reenactments are in nearly all instances divorced from the cult of physical authenticity that predominates in museums; although many serious reenactors may own an actual rifle, saber, or uniform dating to the [American] Civil War era, they will hardly ever use these artifacts during battle reenactments. Nonetheless, the replica objects used in reenactment may have enormous emotional valence and ritual potency. They serve as what structural anthropologists have long termed structural operators, allowing for dynamic exchange between the present and the past, and between the living and the dead.
Mark Auslander, “Touching the Past: Materializing Time in Traumatic ‘Living History’ Reenactments” (Signs and Society 1, no. 1. spring 2013: 161-183)

Relaxing a bit with book rec videos on youtube before studying and tackling my to do list today. I really want to join a community of booklovers, maybe a discord with lots of recommendations... I don't really want to make/manage a discord but would if I could drum up interest.... anyone out there have any interest or recommendations for existing servers?

I haven't been very productive lately, but I'm feeling okay and trying to start a new routine. I feel like for so long, my mental health has suffered related to my thesis, but lately I feel like I'm turning a new page.
Today I need to:
Finish notes on the 2017 article
Review my section for edits
Review my statistical method
Make a drs. Appt.
Walk dogs
Clean my bedroom
Attend my study session
Today I want to:
Go on a walk or to the gym
Finish my book
Read tarot
