archer jumped at the chance to hang out with rory, almost literally as he rushed out of the house in what he had on. he’d admit he was a little too excited to see her and it probably had to do with him feeling as if he hadn’t seen her in forever. joining her at the table, archer was a little taken back when he didn’t see any tears though he was happy for her. for once the gossip that had been circulating recently was the last thing on his mind. he never really had a problem with the muckraker but he understood why most people did, especially now. if jbi jr was spreading crazy rumors about him and getting into his personal business like he seemed to do to almost everyone else, he’d probably be upset too, or at least somewhat bothered. no one should have to put up anything the muck was dishing out, and rory especially didn’t deserve to have everyone in her relationship problems. archer wasn’t going to pretend he knew what she was going through because he didn’t. “i’m sorry they did that to you. men are trash anyway and you can definitely do better. his apology probably wouldn’t do much since he wasn’t the reason she was feeling this way, but he felt he’d offer it anyway. “not really.” he muttered, already aware of what she was getting at. “unless you’re talking about the joey thing. then that’s about the only thing new to happen but it’s not really anything to talk about.” he didn’t think so at least. they hadn’t even talked about it themselves and he would try to do his best to keep it that way with anyone who brought it up.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: The Lima Bean

Rory Slade was a bubbly person. She was adventurous, kind, and mostly realistic. But now, she just felt like she was trapped in a shell. Mamma Mia hadn’t been the best thing to happen to her anymore, it carried a memory that she’d have to live with everyday and would associate with that weekend or that musical for the rest of her life. Which really sucked because she really loved Mamma Mia in general. Yesterday her and Julien finally called it quits on their summer romance and even though Rory was still sad, she was focused on moving past it all which is why she decided to hang out out with Archer. It was spontaneous but so much had happened when Archer disappeared out of nowhere. Iced coffee in hand, she swirled the straw around, looking down into her cup. “Look,” she started, looking up at him. “I know that people are talking or whatever because of the Muck so let me clear things up,” she took a drink of her coffee before continuing. “Yes, Julien cheated on me. Yes, with Ivy. Yes, we broke up. And yes, I’m barely functioning,” it was a very brief description of everything that had happened. “But we’re here to talk about you! So, like, anything new happen?” She was semi-alluding to his and Joey’s hookup but she wasn’t going to be so blunt.

“You’re right, I wouldn’t waste a slushie like that. Apparently it happened a lot back in the McKinley when the Glee Club was still the worst club in that school.” Joey said, remembering all of the stories that his dads had told him from when they went to McKinley and all of the slushies that they got thrown at their face. Smiling when Archer sat down next to him, Joey shrugged his shoulders when the other started talking about what they should watch. “Just choose something random so we can have some background noise while we make out.” He said with a chuckle, almost sure that the two of them would probably end up making out on the couch. They hadn’t had a chance to talk about what had happened in New York and to be honest, Joey was doing fine without talking about it – he wasn’t exactly the greatest person to talk about his feelings, so he just tried to avoid it as much as he could. “How about we watch Harry Potter? Those movies are really old, but I just enjoy watching them. And it’ll be a great background noise.” He said, chuckling again.

archer cringed at joey’s words. it never not baffled him every time he heard about the things that went on at mckinley when their parents were growing up. “seems like a barbaric way to bully someone.” he trailed off. “though now i wonder what’s considered the worst club now.” making out was a great incentive to pick a movie yet that only seemed to make choosing that much harder. deep down he really wanted to watch hamilton and sing-along, yet almost as if he were reading his mind, joey offered up a solution to his unnecessary dilemma. “harry potter it is then.” taking the remote out of his hand archer pulled up one of the many movies and pressed play. he figured it didn’t matter which one he put on since it was already made clear they wouldn’t be watching it. “you sure we won’t have to worry about anyone interrupting us? because i’m more than okay with going up to your room.” archer didn’t want to get too ahead of himself but the last time they just made out things went further than either of them expected, and he’d prefer it if no one walked in on them.

Nik’s   face   scrunches   up   in   disgust.   "Ew   dude,   she   was   like   70   years   old…”   His   hand   lifts   to   shove   his   younger   brother’s   shoulder.   “Don’t   be   gross,   bro.”   He   laughs.   “She   probably   would   buy   a   bunch   she   loves   me   bro,   I   can   imagine   she’d   buy   like   20   to   hand   out   to   all   her   bingo   friends.”   He   says   as   he   laughs.

“did she look as good as jessica lange though? because in my eyes that makes it less gross.”  completely disregarding nik’s reaction, archer continued with his line of questioning. he wasn’t entirely serious, but he did always enjoy the reaction he got from the outlandish things he said. “exactly. the station could easily get a new firetruck or whatever it is you guys fundraise for from them alone. your boss is bad at business.”

ARCHER: OMG PLEASE!!

ARCHER: i've been on lockdown ever since i snuck out to see joey

ARCHER: the tyrants even TOOK my rope ladder!!!!

Joey smiled at Archer when he walked in his house and slowly made his way to the couch, plopping down and looking over at the other as he talked. “Oh, I don’t think they would actually kick you out… Unless you’re planning on throwing a slushie with salt rock in it to my face, you should be fine.” Joey said with a chuckle, patting a seat on the couch next to him so Archer could go and sit next to him – at least so far things weren’t awkward, at least Joey didn’t think so. Even after that had happened New York, they were still friends and that’s what mattered. “You should be fine, there’s no need to make an escape plane. Besides, I think I have the house to myself since Trace doesn’t live here anymore, I don’t know where Hayden is and I also don’t know where Sawyer is.” Joey said with a shrug, now realizing that his siblings were probably upstairs – but it was fine, it wasn’t like anything between the two of them was going to happen, right? “C’mon, I want to watch a movie, I’ll even let you choose.” He said, grabbing the remote.

to this day archer never understood that method of bullying nor how the kids ever got away with it, but he was glad it wasn’t something he’d ever had done to him while at mckinley. the last thing he’d want to deal with is changing his clothes in the middle of the school day because some asshole wanted to throw rocks and flavorful colored ice in his face. “wasting a perfectly good slushie isn’t my taste so we don’t have to worry about that.” kicking off his shoes, the male made joined his friend on the couch and made himself at home. he wanted to suggest going to his room but because they hadn’t really talked about where they stood after their hook up, archer felt that might be a little too much too soon considering he hardly ever spent time in a bedroom with someone else for platonic reasons.“you sure you wanna do that? because that sounds like a bad idea depending on what streaming services you’ve got.” just thinking about all the options made him a little anxious. most of his browsing sessions usually ended with him watching something he’d seen already or random videos on youtube.
