born to a large family in mantle, felix trained from a young age to wield a weapon and fight. with his mother being a doctor, he picked up a love for science at an early age, quickly adapting skills and knowledge into his fighting style. 

once old enough, he went to atlas academy in his brother’s footsteps. there he was head of team FERN, who went on to graduate with flying colours. however, instead of perusing a career as a huntsman, felix split off from the team to follow becoming a doctor and scientist.  from there he made it into atlas’ ranks as a skilled biologist, specialising most of his research into grimm.

years pass, and eventually he makes a fatal mistake. an experiment to be done on a large, bird-like grimm -- one he believes will change everything -- is advised against by atlas’ council. against their wishes, ludwig goes on to do it anyway, seeing the risks as a small price to pay. to what he had calculated, there was only a minor risk of small injury at most. 

oh, how he was wrong.  the huntsman that he paid to accompany him outside of mantle lost their life that night. ludwig’s medical and scientific licenses were revoked, and he was left disgraced by the council. 

after that he travels remnant, with a pet dove lovingly named archimedes. he works as a huntsman, while continuing his research on the side. his only real goal is to keep his work going, using huntsman work just to keep food on the table. he travels back to mantle when the comm systems go down to ensure his family is safe.
