Zeki Paşa Yalı, Istanbul, Turkey
Located close to Sultan Mehmet Bridge on the European Side of Istanbul, this Yali Mansion was built in the early 20th century. It was later sold to Sabiha Sultan, daughter of Mehmet VI, the last of the Ottoman sultans, and her husband İmer Faruk Efendi, grandson of Sultan Abdül Aziz. When the sultanate was abolished in 1922, Mehmet walked from this building onto a British warship, never to return to Turkey

Kazan Cathedral, Saint Petersburg
A friend of mine sent a photo of this Empire Style Russian Orthadox Church in St Petersburg, Russia
I was attracted to drawing this Church for the angle of the image that it was taken, the fact that ive never tried drawing light as it appears through the dome of a building and how the light interacts with the interior surfaces to produce shadows and different tones.
Tumblr media
I started with the Chandelier first as it dominates the foreground of the drawing
Tumblr media
Progressing to the Dome and detailing, I found it very hard to get the shape of the dome correct.
Tumblr media
Final Drawing, I added rays of light by simply rubbing out the surface and darkening the external perimeter of the drawing so the idea is the eye is drawn to the centre and up towards the dome
I could have worked on this project a lot longer but I felt that I had got to the end of it and finished it even though I could have improved it, I just get the gut feeling to stop

German Gothic Church
This is a number of elevation drawings that I completed, studying different types of building styles. I am planning to revisit these types of elevation drawings, as they are fun to do, very detailed and I learn a lot about building construction when I study these elevations in detail.
