More facts about my beautiful bastard boy:
He loves outside. He used to love riding in the car but I didn’t take him out for awhile and then he decided he isn’t sure about it anymore. He wants to chase cars, but luckily is very good on a harness and has never even attempted to get out of it.
He was probably born deaf, according to the vet. He also seems to have some other cognitive? issues- he’s a very unique boyo, and it’s led to some interesting challenges but he’s just so damn endearing... which is good because I hear him (literally) flinging kibble around the living room as I type this.
As opposed to cats that go deaf and then meow very loudly- he never got to hear himself and so most of his meows are silent. Unless he has a little kitty panic attack because he can’t find the humans, or is really pissed because he’s not getting his way, and then he’s the loudest thing I’ve ever heard. Likewise, he hisses at everything that even mildly annoys him. New human? Hisses. Wants to go play but is getting snuggles? Hisses. His hisses are really wet sounding because he can’t hear them and thinks it’s probably the right sound.
Speaking of snuggles- he is the snuggliest boy ever invented. He loves snuggles. Even if he’s mad and wants to go play, he still purrs and purrs about the snuggles while hissing. If he gets hungry at 3am, he tries to aggressively snuggle and lick and purrs so hard he squeaks in order to “earn” his food. This is not as sweet as it sounds and I’ve had many interrupted nights...

Oh my god, I left tumblr so none of you ever got to meet my deaf son, Vent.
He crawled out of an air vent above our refrigerator in May. He’s almost 9 months old now, LORGE, and wearing too small jam jams because I lost them a few months ago and now he’s out grown them but— look how dang cute he is in them

I’m pissed bc I just found out that topless photos of trans men I have reblogged have been flagged.
One guy has been on T for some time, has hair on his chest, but I guess because he hasn’t had top surgery, the bot assumed it was “female nipples”?
I’m so pissed. tumblr staff if a fucking joke. The “female-presenting nipples” this is bad enough, but this just proves they need to fucking stop.

Hey Tumblr–
A couple of weeks ago we announced an update to our Community Guidelines regarding adult content, and we’ve received a lot of questions and feedback from you. First and foremost, we are sorry that this has not been an easy transition and we know we can do a better job of explaining what we’re doing. We knew this wasn’t going to be an easy task and we appreciate your patience as we work through the challenges and limitations of correctly flagging tens of billions of GIFs, videos, and photos.
Today, December 17th, our policy begins to take effect. This means that we will start hiding – not deleting – posts that contain GIFs, videos, and photos from public view that are in violation of our policy. Again, this is a complex problem, and over the coming weeks we will gradually, and carefully, flag more adult content. (Yes, we will still make mistakes, but hopefully fewer and fewer.)
More importantly, we want to clarify the things that you, as a community, have asked about the most.
Tumblr will always be a place to explore your identity. Tumblr has always been home to marginalized communities and always will be. We fully recognize Tumblr’s special obligation to these communities and are committed to ensuring that our new policy on adult content does not silence the vital conversations that take place here every day. LGBTQ+ conversations, exploration of sexuality and gender, efforts to document the lives and challenges of those in the sex worker industry, and posts with pictures, videos, and GIFs of gender-confirmation surgery are all examples of content that is not only permitted on Tumblr but actively encouraged.
We also want to reiterate some important information from our Support post:
Your content will not be deleted. If your post(s) are flagged under the new policy, they will be hidden from public view and will only be visible to you. You can appeal these flags if you feel your content was erroneously marked as adult content. Upcoming feature changes will also make appeals more manageable for those of you with multiple flagged posts. Your blog won’t be deleted if you’ve posted adult content in the past, and there is nothing you need to do if you have interacted with adult content up until now–it will just be flagged and not publicly viewable. Don’t forget too that you can download your content. It’s yours after all, and we don’t take that lightly.
Tumblr media
What is still permitted? We’ve heard a lot of concern about what the policy does not permit, but we want to make sure that you also know what is still permitted:
Written content such as erotica, nudity related to political or newsworthy speech, and nudity found in art, specifically sculptures and illustrations, is also stuff that can be freely posted on Tumblr. Although, photorealistic imagery or photography – images, videos, or GIFs – with real humans that include exposed genitals or female-presenting (yeah, we know you hate this term) nipples or depict sex acts is not allowed per our guidelines. Examples of exceptions that are still permitted but that you may need to appeal if they are misclassified are: exposed female-presenting nipples in connection with breastfeeding, birth or after-birth moments, and health-related situations, such as post-mastectomy or gender confirmation surgery.
The automated tools will improve. Having a post mistakenly flagged as adult totally sucks; we understand and agree that there have been too many wrongfully flagged posts since we announced the policy change. With tens of billions of GIFs, videos, and photos to review and millions of new posts every day, we really need your help to get it right. The more you help by reporting content that’s not permitted and by appealing content that you believe was flagged incorrectly, the better our automated tools will get at classifying your posts correctly. The more content these tools review, the more they will learn the difference between what’s permitted and what’s not. Most importantly, your content won’t be deleted if erroneously flagged and all appeals will be sent to a real, live human who can make the appropriate call.
We love Tumblr and the communities that call Tumblr home. You are Tumblr. This place has always been a reflection of the voices and communities that thrive here. As you’ve always done, help us continue to shape Tumblr into the community you want it to be.

WELCOME BACK! For those who logged off, this is what you missed.
1. @staff made a post pretty much saying “Your stuff isn’t getting deleted, just hidden from everyone but you” and “Yeah we know you hate the term “female presenting nipples” but we ain’t gonna stop saying it” 2. If a blog has a pixelated icon that means they got hit by the ban, you cannot view that blog outside the sidebar. You cannot even view their archive. Allegedly if you follow the advice in this post it’ll be fixed but only if it was an accidental flag (aka a real sfw blog) 3. The post Staff made including examples of what was ok to post. It got flagged. 4. Yes, the bots are still here. Yes they are still stealing posts and putting porn links on them. Yes there are still ads with stuff more sexual than they allow in posts. Yes innocent things are still getting flagged. 5. So yes, the site is still here and staff are still morons.

I’m fucking queer-
I’m agender, use he/him pronouns, so also trans... panromantic, aegosexual; BUT pan (preferring men) when “my switch is flipped”... there’s A LOT going on.
Queer just works. Why bother someone I barely know with that long list of things when I can just say “queer”? It shows I’m not straight, but that the lgbt’s might not quite cut it.
Queer is also like the they/them of sexuality. Why assume someone’s x, y, or z when you could just say, for example, “I saw this lovely queer person at pride; their outfit was amazing.” and not assume their gender or sexuality.
Queer is a wonderful word and I can’t imagine not using it.
queer is a slur, grow up
‘Queer’ was reclaimed as an umbrella term for people identifying as not-heterosexual and/or not-cisgender in the early 1980s, but being queer is more than just being non-straight/non-cis; it’s a political and ideological statement, a label asserting an identity distinct from gay and/or traditional gender identities.People identifying as queer are typically not cis gays or cis lesbians, but bi, pan, ace, trans, nonbinary, intersex, etc.: we’re the silent/ced letters. We’re the marginalised majority within the LGBTQIA+ community, and‘queer’ is our rallying cry.
And that’s equally pissing off and terrifying terfs and cis LGs.
There’s absolutely no historical or sociolinguistic reason why ‘queer’ should be a worse slur than ‘gay.’ Remember how we had all those campaigns to make people stop using ‘gay’ as a synonym for ‘bad’?
Tumblr media
Yet nobody is suggesting we should abolish ‘gay’ as a label. We accept that even though ‘gay’ sometimes is and historically frequently was used in a derogatory manner, mlm individuals have the right to use that word. We have ad campaigns, twitter hashtags, and viral Facebook posts defending ‘gay’ as an identity label and asking people to stop using it as a slur.
Whereas ‘queer’ is treated exactly opposite: a small but vocal group of people within feminist and LGBTQIA+ circles insists that it’s a slur and demands that others to stop using it as a personal, self-chosen identity label.
Why?
Because “queer is a slur” was invented by terfs specifically to exclude trans, nonbinary, and intersex people from feminist and non-heterosexual discourse, and was subsequently adopted by cis gays and cis lesbians to exclude bi/pan and ace people.
It’s classic divide-and-conquer tactics: when our umbrella term is redefined as a slur and we’re harassed into silence for using it, we no longer have a word for what we are allowing us to organise for social/political/economic support; we are denied the opportunity to influence or shape the spaces we inhabit; we can’t challenge existing community power structures; we’re erased from our own history.
I’m not kidding. Cis LGs have literally taken historical evidence of queer people’s involvement in the LGBT rights struggle and photoshopped it to erase us:
Tumblr media
Pro tip: when you alter historical evidence to deny a marginalised group empowerment, you’re one of the bad guys.
“Queer is a slur” is used by terfs and cis gays/lesbians to silence the voices of trans/nonbinary/intersex/bi/pan/ace people in society and even within our own communities, to isolate us and shame us for existing.
“Queer is a slur” is saying “I am offended by people who do not conform to traditional gender or sexual identities because they are not sexually available to me or validate my personal identity.”
“Queer is a slur” is defending heteronormativity.
“Queer is a slur” is frankly embarrassing. It’s an admission of ignorance and prejudice. It’s an insidious discriminatory discourse parroted uncritically in support of a divisive us-vs-them mentality targeting the most vulnerable members of the LGBTQIA+ community for lack of courage to confront the white cis straight men who pose an actual danger to us as individuals and as a community.
Tl;dr:
I’m here, I’m queer, and I’m too old for this shit.

Hey y’all watch Abattoir (2016)
It’s from the guy who directed Saw ll-lV, Repo!, & Devils Carnival.
It’s creepy and fairly original.
Ivan and Jarvis would say I’m biased bc the sole reason I watched it is bc I’m fond of Dayton Callie’s character in Devil’s Carnival but shhh never mind that. Abattoir is surprisingly good if you like slower creepy horror or horror with a bit of mystery.
(But also watch Devil’s Carnival and it’s sequel Alleluia... those are musicals tho. If u liked Repo! you’ll like them; written by the same guy)
