The whole gauntlet thing made me think of this like, there's the lore of the game and then there's the game of the game, yk? And it's fun to think of the game as also being lore. ? Is this anything?

Like, if u don't talk to guardian, they'll stay alive. And you can pass them going to the south and sometimes they'll even return to their home and stand in the kitchen.

And like, if u don't go down the elevator and fight judgment, u can just fuck around in the town indefinitely. There's no consequence to that. U can play soccer and dash 800 times in a row and fight to ur heart's content and drifter won't even flinch. Because that's the game part of it.

But if u make it lore u can say some bs like ouh, well. Judgement stretches time out waiting for drifter, each second lasts years and nobody notices. The world exists in the same state for as long as it takes for drifter to make his way down those stairs. He could live lifetimes in the limbo of his final decision. Or whatever else.

I feel like I should say this as I've been getting tags about it but I've not actually watched indie cross, only heard and seen about it via osmosis which isn't a lot since I've been kinda off Tumblr, and I can't bring myself to watch it

beheaded gets to die first, as a treat. its impossible but i think it's just as tragic to be promised a companion who will never leave u til u die and then for them to just, die anyway. idk i also think itd be funny for behe to wake up in the pq like "ah fuck i didnt think about this part" cause no matter what, after they die, that's where they end up, so ofc that'd keep happening.

Do u guys ever think about how different the enemies in hld are in comparison to the enemies in dead cells? Pardon me while I borderline write fanfic about these losers but, I just think the differences in difficulty should be used more in our driftcells nonsense.

Because dead cells is a 2d game, there's a lot of running and jumping and all that, so I imagine the beheaded would be very adept and running/climbing/ect because of the environment they come from.

Meanwhile hld is an isometric game, which is much more about having a strategy and good aim and precise timing, so I imagine the drifter is adept at stealthy, sniper stuff.

And the enemies are so different!! Hlds enemies are a lot more physical feeling. They're people with guns, frogs with ninja stars, robots and stuff. The birds with magic are less so but still! It's a lot more grounded in the realm of possibility I feel. They're organized groups of people protecting their leader. These enemies have a purpose in their lives outside of Killing You

Meanwhile, everyone in dead cells is just, hanging out, aimlessly in the corridors until you come along and they try and kill you. They're infected with the malaise, they're mutated they're failed experiments, they aren't doing anything but lying in wait to infect another victim.

↑ outliers being most bosses, (not conjunctivitis, not mama tick) and then everyone from Castlevania dlc also doesn't count lol. But these guys do have a mission ig, and it could be argued they aren't infected

Anyway, all this to say I think beheaded would be a little underwhelmed when it comes to the fighting they have to do. Most driftcells is "beheaded ends up in drifters world and they kiss about it" at least I think that's true(???), so I think beheaded would be like "dude, these are just birds/guys/frogs what's the big idea?"

I also think they'd be pissed about the lack of variety regarding weapons! They're so used to rooting through a whole islands worth of goods, including magic items and turrets, and now they get a choice of like 6 guns? That's it?? Outrage!

Not even to mention the mutations! I can imagine them being like "ah man I miss my mutations" and drifter is like "your what???"

Or like, "ah man I miss my cursed sword :(" and drifters like "hm????" And beheaded is like "yeah it was this freaky blade that could kill anything in like, one hit. Downside being it I would also die in one hit." And drifters like "?????????"

I can also imagine them going fucking stir crazy in the much more realistic terrain of hld. There's no tight corridors! No walls to climb or spike traps to fall in! There's no toxic waste!! What's a homunculus to do!!! Be sneaky? Absolutely not!! You want this thing to think about their next move? You got the wrong bitch!!!

But then u get to the final boss and it kinda flips?

Collector is just a guy who wants to kill u for science (rude btw) and meanwhile drifter is fighting?? Plague incarnate? What the fuck is judgement btw, I have no idea what this thing is supposed to be.

Anyway I think beheaded would be like "now THIS is an enemy!!" And they'd run in and get instantly disintegrated. And drifters is standing at the bottom of the elevator waiting for this idiot pudding creature he loves so much to fall down and try again because beheaded insists, "no no I got it, I got it don't worry." And is instantly disintegrated. ← this is how I play dead cells. I just keep trying my best
