Galladrabbles #124 - Thank You

Hi I’m back again with kind of a part two to last week’s drabble. Thanks to @twinklyylights for this week’s @galladrabbles prompt ☺️

Mickey says he’s soft, and fine, maybe he is.

But the way the sunlight streams through the window highlights Mickey’s features: his full, pink lips; the faint freckles around his nose; his long, dark eyelashes.

Ian feels grateful.

On paper, they shouldn’t have worked out. In some other universe, maybe they’d have a fling and go their separate ways.

In another universe, he’d handle things alone. How would it all have gone down? Where would he be?

Mickey stirs, cracks one eye open, and calls Ian a creeper.

Ian presses his lips to Mickey’s jaw in a silent “thank you.”

Mickey shifts around on the ratty Milkovich couch, biting down on his puffy lips. He glances at Ian from the corner of his eye.

They've kissed a bunch of times in frequent succession, but there's still a knot in his stomach.

Ian breaks the tension. "I know you did it for yourself too, but thanks. For inviting me, knowing how scared you probably were."

Leave it to him for reading Mickey like a book.

"It's whatever, man."

"I mean it—everything before too. I'm really happy."

He nods his head in time with the rapid movement of his eyes. "Yeah."

Iggy: coming home early. dad in bad mood. gonna drop him off & go 2 alibi.

Fuck. Mickey shouts for Ian to get dressed and hustles him out of the house.

Spends a frantic few minutes hiding anything that might show he wasn’t home alone.

By the time Terry arrives, Mickey is calmly sitting on the couch smoking.

“Thank you.” Mickey says to Iggy later.

“What for?”

“The heads up.” He says. For saving my fuckin’ life, he thinks.
