[[ ok so, elaine isnt seen at all in canon, thats obvious, and tbh until it comes out that she’s alive, i’m just gonna assume that she’s deceased

and uh, my headcanon for how she died is, there were complications during her birth with varian, and she ended up getting an infection afterwards that inevitably made her really sick, and she died.

she’s a strong-willed person, so i feel like it’d take a pretty nasty something to put her down. ]]

If there was one thing for certain that Elaine was an absolute sucker for, it was surprise kisses. Especially surprise kisses from her normally reserved husband.

Sure, it wasn’t unusual for them to show each other affection. Actually, contrary to what a lot of people may think, the two of them could be OVERLY affectionate sometimes.

Still, no matter what, she was, and would always be, a big dope for her handsome husband.

This is only proven, when Quirin suddenly goes to sit down beside her, and give her a gentle kiss to her cheek.Because, as soon as he does, she pauses a bit in what she’s doing, and then turns and looks up at him with the most loving smile on her face.

Then, after a moment, she eventually sets what she’d been fiddling with, to the side, in order to reach up and cup her husband’s face in her delicate little hands. Pulling him down a bit to her height so she could return the affection with a kiss of her own.

“Good morning my sweet~”

She had just been cooking. Nothing special, just a big pot of soup to use up the last of their summer vegetables she still had saved. 

However, as Elaine went to go and grab some bread from the bread box, she found herself stopping a bit at the sight of her son, who, much to her surprise, was out of his lab early this evening.

She smiles a bit at that, and before she can speak, he goes and gives her a kiss on the cheek, which absolutely warms her heart.

“My sweet little angel.”

Of course, this surprise kiss wasn’t about to go unrewarded. She loved her boys, and she honestly couldn’t help herself whenever one of them gave her any sort of affection.

So with this, she dusts her hands off on her apron, before holding her arms out to him, and when he came closer, she was quick to tug him into a hug before kissing his cheeks a few times, and then kissing his nose.

“What did I do to deserve such a darling boy?”

Elaine had been sitting at the dining table, a basket full of sewing and knitting supplies beside her. While she busied herself knitting the start of what was soon to be either a sweater of some kind, or a blanket.

However, after a few moments go by, she can hear Varian come in the door, and with a warm smile, she only takes her eyes off her project when she sees him out of her peripheral vision come into the room.

Then, before she can speak, she watches him walk over to her, before pressing a kiss to her cheek. And this, indeed, earned a very warm grin from the mother. 

“Hello to you too my little moon-pie~”

After she says this, she eventually goes to set her things on the table, before wrapping her arms around her boy and pulling him into a gentle hug to pepper a few kisses on his cheek.

“How’s my handsome boy doing this evening, hm?”

     ❛ come on ma’ , i’m not that bad ! i made a new chemical solution that mimics the scent of a fresh shower. and i had a cupcake … uh … yesterday ! as for sleep my rebuttal is that the human body can go up to 72 hours without sleep and remain in functioning order. ❜

     he squirmed a bit as his mother went to clean up his face , making little whining noises in the process. but once it was all said and done he turned bashful.

     ❛ thanks ma’ma , i’m not that handsome though. you’re only saying that because i’m your son. ❜

“Just because it can run 72 hours without rest, doesn’t mean it should.” Elaine rebutted, booping her child’s nose for a moment before a grin began to spread across her face.

“And that’s not true either. You’re a very handsome young man, you’ve got cheeks dusted with freckles, a charming smile, and the most distinguished blue eyes. Anyone I know would die to have such features... And I’m not just saying all this because I’m your mother. I really do mean that. You’ll see, one of these days you’ll have a beautiful little girlfriend, or boyfriend, and they’ll say the very same things.”

She goes to cup his face again at that, and very gently thunks their foreheads together for a moment, smiling even more, before she pulled away afterwards and went to put the soiled rag away in the sink.

“Now do share with me what exactly you’ve been doing all day to end up with that much grime and filth all over your person. I doubt that came from working on a cleansing solution.”

“Mooooomma come on I’m a big kid now, I can take care of myself!” He secretly likes her fretting but he’s also a teen.

“Varian Quirin, you listen to me young man, I’ll believe that load when you can take it upon yourself to bathe regularly, eat when you’re told, and sleep decent hours through the day. Until those things happen and you’re a proper man, I’m afraid you’ll have to deal with my doting.” 

She gives him a teasing smile after she speaks, and continues to wipe his face off with a rag. Then, once he was dirt and soot-free, she cups his face in her hands and gives him a gentle kiss on the cheek.

“There now, that’s my handsome boy.”
