I just saw Caught Stealing! This post is spoiler free.
Some thoughts about the movie:
Bud (Tonic) really is a scene stealer. 😻
Austin is great in it. He’s so much fun to watch for so many reasons. And, yes, this ⬇️ is DEFINITELY one of those reasons.
It’s quite violent. I expected that but it’s vivid in a way that was a lot to absorb. I covered my eyes a few times.
Austin is mostly naked for about half the film. 😏And he gets SO beat up. 🤪
It’s funny in the most unexpected moments, extremely well-written, and moves like a freight train. I felt like it was 30 minutes long.
The entire cast is fantastic. I especially loved Matt Smith, Schreiber and D’Onofrio, and Regina King. The cameos are also amazing.
I lived in NYC in 1998 so it was really, really nostalgic for me. There’s an establishing shot at the beginning with the twin towers visible and I almost burst into tears. Practically everywhere Hank goes is a neighborhood or spot I was in so I got a kick out of that.
It’s utterly entertaining and not meant to be taken too seriously. If you’re expecting something super deep and psychological, you’ll probably be let down. But if you can just go on Hank’s crazy ride to see what happens to him, you’ll probably be happy.
Of course I’ll be seeing it again. Lol
