When it comes to my OCs, I like that all of them struggle with something that’s deeply personal for them like self acceptance and family issues but then you have Shin whose struggle is having two passports

Idk if I’ll ever explain this fully here but my OCs last names are all based on citric fruits. The only downside to this is that this includes lemons so if you are an old school like me, drawing them surrounded by lemons could be perceived negatively 😭😭😭

Im lowkey embarrassed to say my OCs names so I affectionally call them Not Rei and Not Tobi since they are shamelessly based on Tobirei. Feel free to do the same
The only exception to this is Shin, I love that guy so I’m not embarrassed when it comes to him

I’ve been a yaoi enjoyer for years now but I’ve notice that lately I’m being a bit more obsessed with it than before and I think it’s their fault

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is ā€œinternationalā€ pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that ā€œyou owe your rights to Black trans womenā€ is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1989. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

A bit of OC lore I’m dropping on you against your will: I want to be vague with their nationalities since I don’t really want that to be like super relevant (except for one character who’s plot is his identity struggles bc his parents are from different nationalities/countries but he’s not important rn) but there’s only so much I can ignore in that regard when you take into a count names and last names can give you an idea of where they could be from, so one of them is Hispanic and the other from Germanic descent which it’s kinda a funny combo that lowkey only makes sense if you live in latam 😭
