this isn’t going to be a formal post, mostly because this ARG kicked off like 3 days ago and there’s not much to analyze. that being said it might actually become interesting so keep on the lookout.

makePOST

PostCONTENT is a YouTube based ARG that... posts content... what a surprise. It follows a vlog/tutorial element, with some dark humour mixed in (and we need some of that.) each video is short, most being under 3 minutes long.

It follows a man, plagued by strange demons and ghosts who torment him both in and outside his house. He also has depression, but is evidently trying to stay positive despite this, and actually cracks a few jokes. I will be calling this man Post

Several things are notable about Post's lifestyle, and reoccurring themes in this series. These include: Black and White, Ropes, a particular red chair, birds.

I'd generally split this series up into two parts. I'll call the first one the "Bed part" and the second part the "Floor Part" named after where our protagonist is sleeping in these respective sections. These two are separated by the videos Error, Issue, and Solution.

The Bed Part contains more of the humour and ghosts, and serves as an introduction to our character's personality and lifestyle. In the video "healthy eating," Post sits down in front of the camera and takes a bite out of a head of lettuce like a burger. At this point, I actually started sobbing.

The floor part follows a bit more of a calm but sinister path, with jokes a little more sparse. It also introduces something new...

Easy-Go Solutions

Our "friend" Easy-go solutions (Or EGS) is a company with a YouTube channel, Twitter account, and even their own website (which doesn't work on mobile well, and hinders my ability to look at it myself.) they encourage the well-being of their viewers and customers. Although there are only 4 videos on the channel that are visible, checking descriptions of both EGS and postCONTENT descriptions will lead to a much darker set of unlisted videos.

EGS actually has two test subjects. One in an open environment (our friend Post), and the other in a closed environment (someone tied up in a garbage bag.) but these two seem to be in the same space.

EGS is ran by a faceless women who goes by S, who also runs a blog! I'm gonna let you find that by yourself though.

Overall

While the effects for some of the ghost are obviously put in as after effects, the costume used for the primary ghost (who I am gonna call the bird ghost) is really neat, and the effects used for S are also real good. It's got some humour in the earlier half, something I'm not use to seeing but am glad to experience. I can't review it in it's entirety because I don't think it's actually done yet. All the videos are short and sweet, with a simple design.

The acting is? Good? It's mostly voice acting, but for the most part I think it is what is intended. As for puzzles, there is definetly a few that I can either not access or am too dumb to figure out, but I believe it involves a lot of "single frame hidden messages" and the like.

I reccomend delving into it and participating, as it isn't finished yet!

@snicket-slut the author himself has stated it's a love story, and I'm inclined to agree! The way I look at it is, if you stripped the formatting, the house, all the crazy supernatural elements from it, what are you left with? A story about love. If you went the other direction, and kept everything but the love portion of the novel, HoL just becomes word soup without a purpose or goal in mind other than looking trippy. I can see why others might look at it differently but that's my thoughts!
