Totally in love with this musical, ALICE BY HEART! And seriously I can’t get over how good Molly Gordon and Colton Ryan are. Their voices are just ethereal. And I mean, the chemistry between these two are just... Can Colton be part of the Molly’s Broadway Gang (Ben Platt, Noah Gavin, Beanie Feldstein) already???

And this musical is particularly close to my heart because Colton’s character, Alfred, is suffering from Tuberculosis (which is my field of research) from living in such a poor condition in London Underground tube station to avoid bombing (the story set up was soon after the WW II). Knowing that his dear friend is very sick, Alice Spencer is asking Alfred to escape together to an imaginary Wonderland by reading Alice’s favorite book “Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland”. Not having a copy of the book, Alice recited each line of the book that she remember by heart so that Alfred can enjoy the new world where he can forget about his sickness. In this dystopian Wonderland, Alfred is the white rabbit trying to tell Alice that he’s running late, which is actually Alfred’s way to tell Alice that he’s running out of time in life, that he’s dying. 

All of the scores in this musical are just beautiful, emotional, and just pure gem. I am so bummed that I missed the off-Broadway run. I am thinking I should probably REALLY consider finding a way to live in NYC so that I won’t miss out such wonderful and enigmatic, gravitating, and moving work of art. 

Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater really did it again this time!!!

I found my new audition song (if I ever find a way to be a part of theater life, ha!)

Yes, Les Miserables’ “On my own” is my first pick and it will always be (not that I have the capability to belt it like Lea Salonga did), but this song from Waitress is just pure beautiful! So many actresses have stepped up on Jenna’s role, but Jessie Mueller’s take on Jenna is by far my most favorite (she’s the original cast, duh?!) Of course Sara’s version is also great. 

This song has so many different levels... and I am all for it!

Waitress: National Tour

Waitress is a beautiful show!!! I just love the takes on life’s struggles and challenges portrayed in this show. And I just love the simplicity that Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson brought to the show. This is not a full-orchestra type of show (drums, bass, guitar, and piano are the main instruments in this show). Interestingly, this show involves a lot of clapping as one of the musical distinction, which was working in a very magical way. I love every score in this musical. They’re easy to listen, and they will pour your heart and emotion just in in the right way, you will bawl. 

And the national tour cast is definitely not disappointing. In fact, I was blown away by the fact that the guys that were playing Dr Pomatter and Ogie are so good. They are legit!!! I would say that they are very close with my imagination of Drew Gehling’s version of Dr Pomatter, Christoper Fitzgerald’s take on Ogie. 

And can I just say that I am obsessed with Dawn (surprise surprise, I am not that into the main characters, as always)? And Ogie is just sooo sweet. I would say, ladies, find someone that will see you like Ogie sees Dawn! 

Ugh, I am super bummed that I didn't get the chance to see the Broadway run with the best cast combination. And Joey McIntyre is stepping in as the new doctor in town, ugh! Plus, for some reasons the creative productions decided to give Jenna a new color (brunette). Oh my god... it couldn't look better on Jenna.

Kamala Harris Pushes Racial And Economic Justice Ahead Of State Of The Union

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) broadcast a populist message focused around a desire for greater racial and economic justice in the U.S. on Tuesday night, just an hour before President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

“Let’s fight for an America where the economy works for working people ― an America where health care and education are fundamental rights, not a privilege for the wealthy few,” she said.

Speaking for only seven minutes on Facebook Live, Harris broached topics including health care, housing, education, wage stagnation, immigration, gun violence, the 2017 Republican tax bill, deregulation and Trump’s travel ban.

Hearts don’t fail me now... But I am super relieved that I decided to go see Anastasia during my last Broadway trip! And I ❤️❤️❤️Christy Altomare. Without a doubt she is the nicest and coolest broadway star.

The Band’s Visit for GRAMMY (please!!!)

THIS COMPANY DESERVES A GRAMMY!!! 

I went to see this show back in December 2018 and I was stunned! I know all along that “The Band’s Visit” will be a different experience (I have been a big fan even before I went to see the show). And I love it even more after I watched the show. The scores are full of energy and synchronized very well to each of the characters. I saw several complex human interactions, emotions, and complications. I see longings and perseverance throughout the show. And the cast are insanely loaded with talents. Katrina Lenk is a new breeze in Broadway. She brings a new face to Dina, one of the lead characters. I love how they highlighted that a small human error (by Khaled of course) can bring your life a new turn and twist and new lessons too. I love Papi’s friendship with Khaled (I discovered later that Etai (Papi) and Ari’el (Khaled) are best friends in real life). I saw dilemmas. All wrapped up in a very beautiful plots and musics. I was enjoying every minute of The Band’s Visit. 

This wonderful company will do their final bow in April, after 2 years of running. I am a bit bummed as I always thought that I will come back for a second (maybe over summer 2019). But I will be as happy if they get this year’s GRAMMY! They are very well deserved.
