"I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other." ~ Mary Shelley
Wild how I grew up seeing "hippies" in American media as this comical media caricature of someone dirty, gross, naive, useless, annoying, lazy and completely detached from reality, so stripped of all the original context that I must have been in my late teens when I first heard the hippie cliche is specifically a parody of an anti-war protest movement. We're never even told that our archetypical image of them is mostly just the fashion trends that young people were generally into at the time, and we think that's specifically "a hippie" just because that much of the country's youth were united against our government in the same decade. "The Man" basically won; he got away with his war and he distorted most cultural memory of its detractors into a pathetic cartoon punchline that's already outlived most of them.
This is like literally just Delusional. This is beyond Hilary Clinton’s fuck up campaign in strategy, like. I can’t even begin to fully articulate how delusional this is.
Grabbing people by the shoulders and shaking them and yelling PRICES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WHATEVER THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD CHARGE. COMPANIES DID NOT SUDDENLY GET GREEDIER OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS AND WHAT SORT OF SOCIALIST ARE YOU IF YOU THINK THEY DID. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME WHERE PRICES RISES IN GENERAL WERE PURELY A MATTER OF INCREASED COSTS OF PRODUCTION. THAT ROBERT REICH TWEET IS DUMB.
