Okay, okay, OKAY, okay I am about eleven (11) episodes into WOE.BEGONE, and oh my god so much of it goes over my head. the thing about malevolent that leaves me flabbergasted is that it isn't written with the intent of being a story about queerness in a time where it had to stay hidden. like. how am i supposed to look at the relationship between arthur and john and say yeah this is entirely heterosexual. how am i supposed to look at arthur's backstory and say yeah this is so not a story about a repressed queer man running away from who he is. how am i supposed to hear john getting called a dandelion and say yeah i am going to ignore the historical queer connotation of this specific common weed. "and yet you love him / i suppose so" "you want him back. / ...yes" "[...] so i played the part until i couldn't anymore" "unmotivated by anything else, other than love" "my love for arthur saved me" and the list could go on!!!

tldr; malevolent works insanely well as a queer story and frankly as a beautiful love story too but i don't think the author knows that
