tsenyihan:
He nodded. “Yihan’s perfectly fine,” he allowed, reaching for the triangular rack on his end of the table. He made quick work of racking the balls. Though the question hadn’t been an invitation, it was too late to correct himself and it would have been far too awkward to anyhow. It wasn’t like this was a bad situation to be in. This would be a good way to familiarize himself with Ariella. Hers had been one of the few files he’d left largely blank. Just one word in the margins: Careful. Reckless, but not someone to watch closely. Not someone to worry over.
Yihan’s hands traded the rack for the cue stick beside him, already readied with chalk from earlier. He leaned over the table, left arm stretched in front and his right cocked behind him, firmly holding the cue stick in place. His eyes focused on the cue ball. Force was simple, inertia and mass were insignificant enough (situationally speaking, of course), but hitting the right linear and angular velocities—God. This was exactly why he only ever agreed to billiards after a few beers. He held his breath and fired before his mind could take off again.
The cue ball struck the formation straight-on and the balls clattered, hurtling and crashing and knocking every which way. Not bad at all for a half-baked shot. Yihan peeled himself off the side of the table and watched as the balls quieted to a standstill. One striped ball dawdled on the edge of a corner pocket, rolling to and fro, teasing his optimism… before finally coming to a stop. Yihan let out a light sigh, surrendering with ease. “It’s a shame I wasn’t given telekinesis,” he joked. “You’re… Ariella, right?”
Tumblr media
A smile in response, her eyes followed his movements, a scene that was familiar to her, albeit the size, shape, colour of hands varied. She’d never preferred to be the one to break, usually leaving it up to whoever was playing with her, though there were days when she was feeling lucky enough to do so. Knowing the playing field was often an advantage, she found, even if it let her opponent take first crack at the balls.
Silence ruled for a moment as he concentrated on his shot, broken by the crack and clicking of the balls as they scattered. It was satisfying, in a way, though the sound one made when it was pocketed was a far more satisfying one. Both their concentrations were drawn to the one ball on the edge, her mouth quirking slightly when it stilled. “ Shame indeed, though I didn’t take you to be one who would cheat, ” Her tone is light, teasing, as she walks around to line up her shot near the other end of the table. Thankfully, there was another striped one that would be an easy shot. “ That’s right  —  ” A pause as she sinks the shot. “  —  Glad you seem to remember me. ”
Of course, she’d assumed that he’d remembered from the earlier announcement, and the thought crossed her mind, if he was one with good memory, and if that would be helpful later on, but it was pushed aside as she lined up her next shot, tongue clicking in disappointment as the angle was slightly off. “ I seem to be a little rusty, ” A shake of her head in deprecation, as she leans back to watch his next move. “ How was your training? ”

hexes-and-ohz:
Z looked up from their pile of cards, noticing someone they hadn’t quite gotten acquainted with yet. “Uh, no,” they said quickly, kneeling down to pick up the mess they made. “Just dropping shit, per usual.”
Realizing they’d been mumbling, they looked back up at Ariella. There was a sense of unease growing between the two, at least that they could feel, and Z couldn’t place why it was happening. They lifted themself back onto the couch, and let the silence sit for a bit before eyeing them and asking: “Hosting a pool party?”
Tumblr media
Ariella made a noncommittal sound, one that neither agreed nor disagreed, just a sign that she had heard what the other person had said. She didn’t know them well enough to make any sort of judgement on their sentence.
A shrug of her shoulders, as she leaned back against the wall. There was no particular care for the strangers in this house, and interactions with them were mostly out of boredom, and curiosity. The one in front of her didn’t seem to be the friendly type, and if they made an indication in line with her impression, she wouldn’t be one to put in any effort. “ Just thought it’d be nice to go for a swim. Care to join? ”

DATE & TIME: May 14th, 7.30pm LOCATION: A hallway STATUS: Closed for @julienrousseau
The beginning of the negator training sessions had not gone well. Having only just started being able to use her abilities felt like unlocking a hidden door that she never knew was there, but couldn’t go back to ignoring. Daily sessions where that ability was taken away was unnerving to say the least, especially  when it was by someone who she was so close to.
Perhaps it was this uneasy feeling, this reading too much into it that was throwing her off, and she was more distracted than usual going back to her room, longing for some solitude and maybe a good bath to rid herself of this feeling. Unfortunately, her current state of unalertness led her to bump into someone rounding the corner.
“ Oh, ” The startled sound escaped her lips, but before she thought about apologizing she registered who was in front of her. Ariella hadn’t seen much of him since the start of the experiments, funny, since he had always been the type to draw attention to himself, but they somehow kept missing each other. “ Julien Rousseau. ”

Send me a ☄ for a lighthearted headcanon about our muses
Despite Ariella’s penchant for sweet things, and unhealthy snacking habits, one thing she doesn’t touch is soft drinks, or soda. Coke, Sprite, Root Beer etc, it’s a no from her. Xander often teases her about this, because ‘ if you already have such an unhealthy diet avoiding one thing isn’t going to make too much of a difference? ’

Send me a ☁ for an angsty headcanon about our muses
With her family situation, she’s truly come to see him as an invaluable part of her life. The negator situation isn’t going to be good for either of them, but Ariella keeps quiet about how much it affects her, tries to hide how much being around him is taking a toll on her physically, because she doesn’t know what will happen if she loses him. Especially since it affects her more so than it does him, she will try to disguise it as much as possible, because she doesn’t want him knowing that he is the one who causes her pain.

They often used to have karaoke sessions, especially when they’ve had a little too much to drink. Ariella herself can hold her liquour, though it often leaves her in higher spirits than she usually is. Neither are particularly good singers, not the kind to be able to record songs, but they’re not totally tone deaf either. Even if they were, it wouldn’t stop them from belting out the songs at the top of their lungs.
Send me a ☯ for a headcanon about our muses’ differences
It’s kind of cliche, but while both can be described as reckless, Wolfie is definitely more hot headed than her. For example, if someone insulted them, Wolfie would be the type that punches because of the insult, because he feels a need to retaliate for the insult, to demonstrate that such comments are unacceptable, and think of nothing else. Meanwhile for Ariella, she would punch, yes, but also be on watch for a reaction, mind planning for solutions to situations that may arise, and perhaps, though she will hate to admit it, perhaps a little too influenced by the society she was brought up in, to show that you do not mess with her.

Send me a ✦ for a random headcanon about our muses
Ariella tends to crave things to snack on constantly, event though she’s not actually hungry, and favours sweeter food during these times. As the Initiative is trying to encourage healthy living, while there usually is a fresh batch of pastries during breakfast times they tend to disappear speedily, leaving Yihan pastry-less most days, despite him presumably being an early bird he never seems to get there in time?? Attempts to convince the people in charge of catering to send more over have not been very successful.
Send me a ☯ for a headcanon about our muses’ differences
I imagine Yihan to be a person that has schedules and routines for the day, and usually follows them religiously. Compare with Ariella who ... has no semblance of such a thing. There are times when she’s awake for 36+ hours, and days where she doesn’t get up till 2pm ( although now that they’re forced to go for sessions she has to be up earlier, but half the time you’ll see her staggering in late )

xanderchaelier:
With thoughts and ideas buzzing in his mind, Xander decided to head to the pool to relax. As he pushed open the door that led to the outdoor pool, he heard someone shout his name. It wasn’t too loud but just loud enough for him to hear. He considered walking away, ignoring the call to head back to his room. But then again, he knew he would feel bad if he did that. Sighing, he turned back to see who it was that had called his name.
He did not know a lot of them yet and he was dreading the need to introduce himself again to someone new. However, his worry was lifted the moment his eyes met hers. They didn’t formally meet but the did know of each other’s existence, so he was slightly confused as to how he should go about greeting her. In the end, he decided to just be himself, no facades.
“Ariella!” He beamed, walking over to the nearest lounge chair to her and taking a seat, “It’s nice to see you here.” Xander was unsure how he should continue. He wanted to know more about her stance on the initiative, but at the same time, he did not want to bring any negative feelings, if she did have some against it. Still, he wanted to know what progress she has made with her powers.
Finally, he decided to just stop thinking and let the conversation flow like it was meant to be. With another grin, he began, “If I remember correctly, you were always interested in medicine, but you never really got into it, right?” He knew the answer already – she had chosen to venture into racing instead, which was something he admired about her. Still, he made sure to involve her in the conversation.
His mind wandered to why she was at the pool at this timing. Was she training? That had to mean that she was somewhat excited about her powers, right? He tried weighing in his head the pros and cons of asking her but eventually, he decided to just go for it. After all, no facades, right? Xander glanced at the darkening sky then back at her,  “How do you feel about the powers that were assigned to you?”
Tumblr media
To be honest, Ariella was a little taken aback at just how friendly he was the moment he saw her, the past interactions with people from their circle either insults disguised under a mask of politeness, or the sort of schmoozing friendliness. Alexander, however, seemed much to be actually cheerful, though she supposed that such joviality would be a positive in his field of work.
"Nice to see you too. ” A standard enough reply, but she did mean what she said, as opposed to the normal obligatory phrase.
A short hybrid of a laugh and a scoff escapes her mouth, eyes rolling in a nearly automatic response whenever she thought of her parents. “ I see my parents have been running their mouths again, but yes. I actually did have an interest in it, but after four years of pre-med with my parents constantly breathing down my necks, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have lasted taking the full thing continuing like that. ”
Her tone was light, despite the acidity when mentioning her parents. It was no fault of his, and she wasn’t the type to punish him for the actions of others. Her interest in medicine would be a surprise to most, but although her interest wasn’t quite altruistic, it was interest nonetheless.
“ Wondering if my parents had a twisted sense of humour, to be honest. ” Honestly, knowing your baby would grow up to have hydrokinetic abilities and then naming her Ariella? She shrugged her shoulders, her hair fanning out as she maintained her position floating there. “ Cool, I guess, but the experiment situation is a whole different thing. What about you? A doctor with the healing ability, how fitting. ”

hexes-and-ohz:
Legs stretched out along the living room sectional while they shuffled a deck of cards, Z couldn’t keep their mind from racing. They were hesitant to come here, hesitant to leave their life behind - their friends - but it didn’t seem like a choice.
While they’d been briefed and told they could ask for anything that they wanted, they were pretty sure asking for weed within the first week would be frowned upon. Unfortunately for Z, that meant that social interactions were going to be rough around the edges. Though they weren’t generally psyched to meet new people, being high made it easier to play nice.
Looking down at their hands, they let out a small “Oh, shit.” At some point while they were shuffling, the cards required less manual effort and seemed to shuffle themselves. Of course, once they noticed, the deck fell to the ground.
Tumblr media
Unable to stand sitting around anymore, Ariella had decided to head down to the beach, the clear waters and soft looking sand beckoning to her. For all their faults, one she couldn’t nitpick about the Initiative was the accommodations provided, and the view along with it.
Fully prepared to breeze out of the room, regardless of whoever was there, the muttered curse had her glancing over to where someone was staring at a deck of cards splayed out on the floor.
Not quite being able to place the person for a second, as their head was bent, she opted to not mention them by name at all. “ Need some help? ”

DATE: May 9th TIME: 6:00 AM LOCATION: Kitchen
The early morning sun was just beginning to peek through the windows of the kitchen as Lily stood at the counter, eyes fixed on the plate of fruit she was carefully cutting. Though her life had seemingly been overturned into a confusing, disheveled mess as of recent, she thought it best to stick to her routines; the familiarity of waking up at the break of dawn and attempting to not wake Molly by quietly fixing breakfast bringing Lily a much needed sense of comfort. She even continued with her strictly regimented diet despite no longer knowing if it would be necessary since she was unsure if she was going to continue down her current path in life as a dancer after this was all over.
It was difficult not to become lost in thought as she stood there, weighing her options in her mind and thinking about how truly lost she felt. Was her success in dance only really due to this so-called power? Would she be able to continue in good conscience when she felt like such a fraud? What would she even be able to do with her life instead? The thoughts racing through her mind frightened her almost as much as being brought to the island in the first place.
She hadn’t realized she had stopped cutting and was simply staring off into space until she heard someone come up behind her, catching her off guard and bringing her back to reality. “Oh, hi,” she stuttered before managing a friendly, courteous smile, “I didn’t realize anyone else would be awake so early. I’m making breakfast if you want some.”
Tumblr media
Mornings were ... not Ariella’s thing, for sure, but she’d been unable to sleep peacefully, not liking the feeling of the unknowns. Yes, sure, the Initiative seemed to have been well organized and considering the amount of influential and wealthy backers they seemed to have, also powerful, but years of experience have taught her that agencies like these never were completely clean in their dealings.
Shuffling into the kitchen hoping for a bite to eat, she’d almost missed the fact that there was someone else in there in her half awake state until a voice brought her out of her stupor. Rubbing her eyes a little and blinking to get rid of the remaining drowsiness, she focused back on the brunette.
Lily, flexibility, her brain prompted, remembering the file that she had read on the plane, reinforced by whatever farce of an introduction message had happened when they arrived at the residence.
Gracing her with a smile, she wandered closer, curious. “ Hello. Lily, right? ” Eyes trailing to the knife in her hand, Ariella stifled a yawn before questioning, “ What are you making? ”

tsenyihan:
date: may 10th ( 15:00 ) location: game room status: open
 ·      · Yihan found it ironic that teleporting objects was more challenging than teleporting himself. It perplexed him, eyebrows furrowing as he pressed the billiard ball harder into his palm. By quantum teleportation, shouldn’t objects with less mass be simpler to digitize than his entire body? That is, unless the wormhole theory were the true explanation for his power, but—and Yihan would die on this hill—rifts through time-space would be the worst way to teleport. Unstable and unreliable. He swiftly dismissed the thought of wormholes and focused instead on envisioning every molecule of the ball breaking apart.
·      · The sleeves of his white button-up were evenly rolled up to his elbows and his shirt was already lightly wrinkled from training earlier. Yihan leisurely leaned against the pool table, opening and closing his hand, feeling the weight of the ball. Finally, his fingers curled in all at once into his newly emptied palm. Before he could blink, the ball appeared in the air across the table and immediately dropped with a heavy thump. Now, couldn’t this type of materialization support both quantum and wormhole teleportation? The imperceptible abruptness with which it left his hand—
·      · The sound of nearing footsteps broke his train of thought. Yihan looked up from his closed fist and offered a half-smile. “Did you want to play?”
Tumblr media
Bored, bored, bored.  There was only so much practice of controlling her abilities in a day that Ariella could stand, despite wanting to improve faster, her attention span was not the greatest, and continued repetition of the same thing could only hold her for so long. It was this that led her to the game room the Initiative had provided for them, ostensibly to allow them to relax.
She’d recalled there being a billiards table during an earlier exploration of the residence, which had been her target. The figure of another person cause her steps to slow, seconds before her brain provided her with a name. Yihan, if she recalled correctly, the one who could teleport.
Returning his smile with one of her own, she moved to pick up a cue stick. No stranger to the game, she had ended up spending a fair amount of time at such tables, and was pretty good at it, if she did say so herself. “ Sure, ” she replied, inclining her head slightly. “ You can break. Yihan, right? Can I call you that, or do you prefer something else? ”

irxwolfie:
“You couldn’t leave me alone if you tried,” he says, grinning. “We all know that it’s my infectious personality keeping you around.” However, the playful tone drops once they delve into the details of their situation and possibilities for escape. “I’d normally agree with you, motormouth. Not making any moves before we get full control of our abilities sounds good as hell,” he says. “But that’s a strategy that relies on them having no further plans for us once we start showing progress. And once you do know how to drown someone, they’ll take more precautions…security won’t be as lax.”
Wolfie’s eyes study Arielle as if she’s the only thing in the room, but his mind’s diverted its attention to his worries about hidden cameras, microphones, and eavesdropping from their own ranks. He knows that even if there isn’t one now, they’ll definitely face a mole or two within their group as certain people’s loyalties shift to the Initiative.
The Initiative has eyes and ears everywhere. And he’s ready to play their game.
“For now, we’re stuck,” he says, choosing his words carefully. “I’m not saying we’re giving up, but there’s nothing we can do until those damn scientists feed us more information. And so, in case something happens…”
There’s one tell-tale sign of being flustered that he’s had since he was a little boy; he always tugs the skin under his eyes and works his way up to the outer corners. But although his voice sounds flustered, starting and stopping as if nerves were short-circuiting his voicebox, that habitual skin tugging is absent.
“There’s something I’ve wanted to, uh, tell you for awhile now,” he says, looking down. As a precaution, he throws out another hesitant line for the cameras he suspects are watching them. “It’s about us and stuff,” he says quickly, moving to sit up. “Walk with me for awhile? If any of the guys I pissed off earlier hear me talking about lame-ass stuff like this, my rep is toast.”
“Come on, read me!” he thinks. “The house is probably bugged as fuck, but I doubt they’ll get good audio – ha, if get any at all! – if we wade into the ocean. Come on, Arielle…catch the hint. I need to tell you everything…I need to tell you why I don’t think we’re alone on this island…I need to tell you that I’ve got a plan.”
Tumblr media
A withering look is all the answer she has for him, but she doesn’t deny it. No matter how much they tease and bicker, at the end of the day they’d still be there for the other. The pillow is yanked out from under him before he completely finishes his sentence, and moments later it meets his face. “ You’re going to be the first one I drown, if you don’t stop calling me names. ”
But for all her joking, she certainly wasn’t about to sit still and let them do what they wanted. People like these always had ulterior motives, and it would be stupid not to always have backup plans, and backups of those backups. They would too, she supposed, but the only thing she could really do at the moment would be to gather as much information as possible. Experience in these things would hopefully prove to be an advantage, and perhaps those years of observing her parents may have it’s merits. It was the same game, just a different field.
She raises a brow at his words, his demeanour definitely off. To any other person they might not notice, but the two of them had known each other well enough to be able to tell. “ Sure, whatever. Why am I not surprised that you’ve managed to piss multiple people off already? ”

DATE & TIME: May 12th, 8.12pm LOCATION: The pool STATUS: Closed for @xanderchaelier
You’d think  that after five days of experimenting with her powers she would enjoy the break that they all had been given, but her Ariella was, back in the pool. She’d gotten enough of a handle on her powers to allow herself to float just below the surface of the water, and was currently experimenting with moving the current in one direction then the next, effectively making it seem like she was swimming laps from a distance ... except she hadn’t bothered to move either arms or legs.
Idly, she wondered if perhaps this was the reason why she liked baths and going to the beach so much. Does the ability given to you affect your personality in any way? Wolfie was definitely hot tempered, which fit the fire ability, apparently. As for Olivia, well, she was definitely no wallflower, but perhaps it was a sort of poetic justice that she was able to turn invisible, sometimes whether she wanted to or not.
Thinking about the other people she knew in this house ( more than she had expected, if she were to be honest, but then again it wasn’t a huge improbability, considering how the Initiative seemed to have been a thing that was considered inner circle knowledge ), there was also the Chaelier heir, who if she recalled correctly had the healing ability, which brought the thought that perhaps the abilities could have been chosen by their parents.
Speaking of the devil, she spotted him coming out the doors leading to the pool, ans she decided to take the opportunity to satisfy her curiosity. Not exactly sure what to call him ( they weren’t strangers, yet they weren’t exactly friends either ) she hesitated for a bit before calling out his name.

terratisms:
He laughed, unfazed by the attitude he was receiving. This girl was nothing new, nothing he hadn’t faced before and he was too happy with how this entire thing was going to let her bring him down, so instead of fighting, he stood up from his seat. He stretched, hands over his head and his shirt ridding up his stomach until his back popped.
❝Everyone’s life is planned by their parents the moment the are conceived❞ Joon Sung shrugged, looking at her with something resembling pity, but it wasn’t that, not really. Something about the girl gave him the feeling she was always on the offensive, guarded and only people with tough lives acted that way. ❝It’s up to the individual wether they follow the script or deviate from it.❞
He popped his neck and took a moment to really asses the girl in front of him. She was definitely upset with him, probably more angry than anything else but, well, Joon Sung did not care. He didn’t appreciate her snapping at him when all he had tried to do was sympathize and understand the other’s point of view, especially because it didn’t make sense to him.
❝Advise me? Wow❞ He laughed, before shrugging his shoulders and rolling his eyes, making no attempt to hide his annoyance this time. ❝Fine, honey, I won’t❞ he turned away from her before stopping and looking over his shoulder.
❝My bad. I just call everyone pet names,❞ He added like and afterthought, giving her a fake smile before, hoping the implied “you are nothing especial” was felt through his tone.
Tumblr media
She was tempted to roll her eyes, or scoff at his idealistic words. Lucky enough to have this sort of outlook, she supposed. Not everyone had the liberty of that choice, not everyone had the chance to say that their parents cared enough to plan out their lives. Or in her case, parents who cared about their image enough to plan for her life.
“ What a lovely life you must have led, to be able to think that way. Have you ever thought of the orphans, those who were abandoned, those whose parents considered them to be accidents and simply didn’t care what they did? ” An optimistic worldview wasn’t always a bad thing, she would concede, but to presume that everyone had the same privileges they had rubbed her the wrong way. She shook her head, thinking of the stories from people she had met, which only served to cement the selfish impression she got from this guy. But she knew words would probably have no effect on people like these, only by truly experiencing something that affected them would they then be able to understand what it meant to others, and trying to argue the logic to them at this point would be like talking to a wall.
Another raise of her eyebrow, a trait she had perfected thanks to the years of prep school. Such a simple movement, yet a significant display of disdain. A narrow viewpoint could still be overlooked at this point, but she especially hated pet names given to her by those she wasn’t close with. “ Real cute, ” her tone of voice conveying it was anything but. “ You might want to change that habit, though. ” Unnecessary advice, but she felt a modicum of pity for him, which led her to drop that last sentence. Not everyone was as patient as she was with that attitude, and she knew some people who were the type to punch first, ask questions later. “ And in case it wasn’t clear, pet names aren’t my thing. Have some more interesting things I’ve got to do, and I would say it’s been a pleasure, but I try to avoid lying as much as I can. Bye now. ”

ofphxntcms:
Olivia’s first instinct was to shriek, so she did. Jumping back out of instinct, the glass fell from her hands, breaking on the ground between their feet. “What the hell?!?” What kind of civilized person threw water at someone? Arielle’s clearly not a civilized person, she thought. It was a fact she knew well. Despite her ability to blend and fit into their society with ease, at the end of the day she still spent her free time hanging around lowlifes and adrenaline junkies racing cars.  Someone with good breeding didn’t do that. Although, she shouldn’t blame her parents. They were wonderful people. Arielle was just a bad seed, clearly. After making a quick mental assessment of her make up - light, waterproof mascara should be good, but she’d have to redo her foundation - Olivia hastily wiped some of the wetness off her face. The second her eyes fell on Arielle, they widened, her shock clearly evident, before narrowing. All she wanted to do was rip into her for splashing her like that, but Olivia was well aware of the audience around them. Ariella may be fine acting like a child, but Olivia wanted to leave a better first impression. After all, first impressions were everything (though money could always be used to wipe a slate clean and start anew). Jaw clenched, Olivia nearly huffed out her words. “That temper of yours is still as present as ever, I see. Shouldn’t be surprised you’d succumb to childish antics. Growing out of immature habits has never been your strong suit.” Still playing with cars, now throwing water like they were in elementary school. It was ridiculous. “Though I’d strongly suggest you learn to get a grip on yourself. Who knows what kind of trouble you can get yourself into if you don’t. Wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you.” Running a hand through her wet hair for assessment, Olivia straightened her stance and turned to retreat to her room. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go change. ”
Tumblr media
It truly amused her to no end, the reactions that Olivia and her type tended to produce. Overdramatic, certainly, for a little splash didn’t warrant the amount of shrieking that came out of her mouth. Nevertheless, it had become a sort of game, back at home, with Elle, the one person who wasn’t as stuffy as the rest of them: how big of a reaction could they force with the littlest of things? Watching high society girls lose their cool was a low form of entertainment, but it was still entertainment, and besides, being around to witness them getting knocked off the pedestal they placed themselves on.
The smirk still firmly on her lips, her eyes tracked Olivia’s movements with detached interest as the blonde’s ire grew more pronounced. “ If this is what you consider a display of temper, I’d hate for you to actually see me angry, ” Ariella temporarily abandoned the light-heartedness in favour of mock sympathy, the type of face you’d imagine people making when they go ‘ oh, poor baby ’. But of course, saying that outright was obviously something that wouldn’t be appreciated.
“ Sorry, slow learner and all, you know? Not everyone has the natural aptitude for their ability like you do. ” Her tone seemed to indicate the exact opposite, however she was actually genuinely hoping that Olivia would master her ability soon, or at least stay in the invisible state for the remainder of their time here. “ Excused, of course. Don’t want you to continue looking like a drowned rat on our first day. Bye bye now. ” Their conversation heading to a natural end, she decided to head out to the beach, ready for the ocean breeze to rejuvenate her. Conversations like these tended to drain her easily.

Molly circled herself and she had the feeling that was just the brink of strange statements she would make before it was all said and done. It had taken the entire day to successfully create a corporeal double of herself. Molly 2.0 could only stand there blinking and if Molly lost focus for even a moment she vanished. But it felt like that time in her junior year of college when she’d crammed all night for her intro to criminal justice class, mainlining coffee the entire time. That staticy sensation like every one of her atoms were vibrating too fast, like she was about to just spontaneous combust. It felt like being alive.
She glanced back at the person watching both her and Molly 2.0. “This is weird, right? Like next level, tripping on acid weird, right?”
She reached forward and poked her double’s cheek. “I finally got her corporeal but that’s about it so far. How much progress have you made?”

Ariella had decided to take a break, her frustration with how slow progress was going reaching a peak. It was one thing to imagine herself with all these new abilities, but putting them into practice was a whole other thing. Not being able to stand staying in the room with her hologram trainer, who seemed to be way too enthusiastic about trying again, she’d started wandering into the rest of the training rooms.
Watching a still double of the girl in front of her, she couldn’t help but nod in agreement. “ Definitely. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a dream. ” If only it was a dream.
She winced slightly when progress was mentioned, not quite content with what she had achieved so far. “ At least it’s something. All I’ve gotten so far was make the water move in the general direction I was aiming for, and not in a graceful fashion at that. ” Ariella had actually started rewatching the initial episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender in hopes that whatever waterbending techniques portrayed in the show would somehow be applicable to her. Not that anyone needed to know about that.
