The best part about being asexual is knowing that you will never be honeypotted. I often picture myself as a mark in a James Bond movie who has information or something and Daniel Craig saunters up in his sexiest tux to seduce me and I’m just like “No thank you” no matter what he does and then he has an existential crisis and walks away in a daze then sends in Moneypenny cause maybe I just like women and I’m like “hey girl, no thanks” and send her away as well and they just never get the information. Superman 2025 is about a humble kid whose childhood home has a creaking screen door, who tries his best to care for everyone.

It is unflinchingly empathetic, about being a force for good in the world, about hope. Clark Kent cares for everyone and uses his power to make a better world. It's about stopping those who would do harm to others. It's about the necessity of community and friendship and love to save the day.

The Batman is about an isolated billionaire destroying his wellbeing to help his city. The inherent corruption that comes from throwing money at a problem. Bruce Wayne is struggling to uplift others in desperate situations, and isn't truly successful until he supports community liberation that is connected firmly to the affected community. It's about the importance of justice and service over vengeance.

The arguments of who could win have always missed the point because they're about power as violence and superiority. Batman vs Superman was dumb because these two men are fundamentally aligned despite their disparate backgrounds. Earlier depictions saw these men as power fantasies who did everything alone. The 2020s depictions do not fall into that trap. Both movies embrace community. They ask who power serves, and challenge the great man myth.

Wonder Woman 2017 is about a naive but determined woman who fights the manifestation of war and conflict. She collaborates, she trusts, she hopes and loves so hard that it breaks her then rebuilds her. The problems of the movie come when it loses that message and divorces the final battle from the people who it serves. The sequel did Diana Prince a disservice by isolating her, and the movies are undermined by Gadot's politics, but it still tried to show the importance of protection and empathy, and it was undeniably a new direction for superhero films in the new era.

This is my Justice League. People who are about making the world better by protecting and uplifting. Who empower others, who support liberation movements, who work together, who need and support community on multiple scales.

Tim sneaks two scoops. Dick eats directly from the tub. Damian arrives just in time to see Jason stuffing the empty container behind the Batmobile’s tire well.

An hour later, Bruce walks in holding the forensic analysis results of “melted dairy product residue” on his gloves.

“I want names,” he growls.

No one speaks.

Next day, Damian writes a 3-page manifesto titled “The Ice Cream Mutiny: Why Father Must Be Overthrown.”
