“Hey,” Jaycee spoke gently, putting her hand on Aria’s knee without much thought. “It’s okay. I don’t even miss it anymore.” She assured her, giving her knee a quick squeeze before tugging her hand away with a flush in her cheeks. When her coke was put in front of her she quickly unwrapped a straw and took a drink to wet her nervously dry mouth. Being in Aria’s presence again was overwhelming, but the good kind. “I am so glad I ran into you,” she confessed. “It’s been kind of a rough day, and I could use a friendly face.”
Aria's breath caught in her throat once she felt Jaycee's hand on her bare knee. The one day she decided to wear a mini skirt... Before she knew it, Jaycee pulled away, and the brunette tried her best to act like none of it had affected her. Aria managed a smile on her face as she looked back up at the other woman with a nod. "Oh," she chuckled shyly, "Well, that's good." When the waitress came back with their drinks, Aria mirrored Jaycee's actions with her own drink. After taking a sip, a look of concern washed over her face as she tilted her head to the side. "Yeah, I'm glad to be here," she replied, "Rough day? What's going on?"

I didn’t know and please tell me. I’m here to listen, no matter what you say. I deserve it and you have a right to be angry. She’s fine, traumatized and wounded in all the ways, but okay and safe with her family. I…yeah, I definitely deserved that. And yes, she does know. That’s one of the first things I told her and her parents flipped, but she understood and was happy we’re happy. You don’t have to prepare babe, coming home to you is preparation enough. Like what? Like a girl that’s really really sorry and is hopelessly in love with you.
I-It doesn't matter anymore. I just -- I was scared. I didn't feel secure in our relationship and I didn't like feeling that way. We broke up and you fell in love with Nicole, but you never really ended things with her. I was just worried, and -- I didn't trust you. I'm sorry. But I didn't. I didn't trust you with her, or her with you. So what -- what now? Do you just never see her again, and you completely forget about each other? I have a hard time believing that this is the end of things between you and her and...I feel like the bitchy girl getting in between things. No, just don't look at me with those sad eyes. They're making it hard for me to be mad at you.

I am, starting now. I know you must be angry and you have every right to be and honestly, I should have never left to see Nicole. I love you, I’m going to marry you not her and I’m so sorry for picking up and leaving. With work and the shitty phone service, I went straight to the Brew when I got back. That wasn’t okay, what I did wasn’t okay and you have every right to be angry. I promise I will make it up to you.
I don't think you know how you made me feel the last month. I-I know that Nicole needed you, but I needed you, too. And -- damn right, I'm angry. But...How is Nicole? Is she okay? Does she -- Does she know about, you know, us? And you! Are you okay? No, wait. I-I'm angry at you, so I don't care. I didn't know you were coming home, so I didn't have time to prepare for you being here and...damn it, Erin. Don't look at me like that.

Alison’s mind was racked with worry and stress. From A.D.’s twisted game to grading English essays to suddenly the little life growing inside her, it felt as if the walls were caving in. So, here the small blonde was, sitting on her couch with some green tea, her reading glasses and a stack of essays to comment and grade. She was so immersed that she didn’t even hear the door open softly and a person enter the house.
"Ali?" Aria called out, making sure not to do anything that would startle the blonde as she entered the house with some take-out for the both of them. "I just -- I wanted to come over and check in on you. And...I dunno, I just needed someone to talk to." The brunette made her way further into the house, a soft sigh of relief passing her lips as she saw Alison grading papers on the couch. "I come bearing food..."

You’d think my writer’s block would disappear after the last week and a half, but no, of course not. In other news, does anyone have any coffee combination ideas? I’ve got a few ideas but more would be wonderful, especially as we head into the summer at theBrew.
Wow. Do you ever stop working? Between taking care of Nicole and writing and working at The Brew, do you ever take a break? To...maybe call your fiancee and let her know what the hell's going on? You didn't even tell me you were coming home.

indispencable:
“I’m just surprised to see you in such a good mood is all. But it’s nice to see you smile again, Aria.” Spencer gave the girl a smile of her own as she settled in the seat opposite her—she was here to make a lunch reservation for Saturday, but that could wait. Her friends would always be her priority. “One drink can’t hurt,” she mused aloud, then waved a waiter over and ordered a glass of wine. “How come you’re all by yourself, Tiny? You know if you gave any of us a call we’d be more than happy to join you. We should all get together more, we haven’t been doing much of that all.” She leaned onto one of the arm rests and held Aria’s gaze. “Are you okay?”
Seeing Spencer walking into the hotel brought relief to the brunette, and she had already been feeling pretty good to begin with. She had yet to see Hanna, Emily or Alison yet, but she was hoping she'd bump into them eventually. For now, she'd catch up with her best friend. "It feels good to smile again, actually," Aria shrugged, looking down at the glass in her hands. Looking back up at Spencer, she moved a strand of hair behind her ear. "Actually, I just checked in a while ago, and...I was just kind of taking a break. I wasn't expecting to see anyone, but I really am glad you're here." Aria paused long enough to lean over and place her hand on top of Spencer's for a moment. After taking another sip from her drink, the brunette sighed, "I know, I know. I get busy and then I just...don't talk to anyone," Aria chuckled nervously. Plus, it didn't help that she was trying to avoid talking about Erin and Nicole at the moment. Once she met Spencer's gaze, Aria smiled softly and tilted her head. "I'm okay. I-I was avoiding coming home for so long, I kind of think it's what I needed, you know? New York's great, but it got lonely."

“Not only are you allowed, but you are encouraged to be in a good mood. It’s nice to see you smile.” Jaycee admitted with a rare grin, slipping into the seat next to Aria. They had been seeing each other more often these days, something that excited her quite a bit, even if things between them weren’t going to be romantic. She’d rather have Aria in her life as a friend than not at all. As the small brunette asked if she was going to join her, she chuckled and got the bartender’s attention. “I’d be honored to have a drink with you, Miss Montgomery, but it’s just a soda for me.” Her gaze fell onto the bartender. “Just a coke, please.”
Aria smiled sweetly at Jaycee, eyes following her as she sat down next to her. The quickened flutter that came to her heart was hard to ignore, but Aria tried her best. The brunette turned her body so she was facing the other woman a little better. Of all the people she could have bumped into here, she was glad that it was Jaycee -- especially since it didn't seem like Erin would be back in Rosewood anytime soon. She couldn't help but wince a little when Jaycee announced that she'd be having a soda instead of something with alcohol in it. "Ah, damn it. Sorry. I, um -- I forgot about that. Yikes," she chuckled nervously, "Um, make that two cokes. You can put a little rum in mine."

“Hey, I’m all for it! I wouldn’t judge you if you were sloshed already, given everything you’ve been through lately.” Mona commented with a kind smile. She did feel bad for Aria, having Erin and Nicole plastered all over the news reel. It certainly didn’t look great for her relationship to have Erin’s first choice for fiance show back up in her life. She understood how it felt to watch someone she loved be with someone else. “If that’s an invitation, hell yeah! I wasn’t sure you’d want to hang out with me. I could use a drink.. or twelve.” Mona smirked before ordering a drink of her own. “Do you think they have cheese fries?” Having her mind on Hanna made her think about the old days when the two of them would demolish a basket of cheese fries together. Leave it to Mona to allow her wistfulness to bring on a craving.
Despite the smile that came to Aria's face, she still had to wonder whether or not what Mona said was some sort of backhanded comment. She decided not to treat it as such. "Well, even with...everything going on, I still like to wait until at least five p.m. before getting 'sloshed'," she replied. The benefit of her personal life being displayed on national news for all to see was that Aria didn't have to keep repeating the story of the pathetic situation she currently found herself in. The downfall of it being on the news was that everyone knew about it -- whether she wanted them to or not. At this point, Aria felt like she could trust Mona. She hadn't been given a reason not to in at least five years, after all. "We're adults now. I-I'm willing to put all that stuff in the past, if you are," Aria shrugged, making a gesture toward the chair next to her in an offering to Mona. "If Hanna had her say on the menu, which I'm sure she did, then they have cheese fries," she chuckled, eyes scanning the area for a waiter. Once she found one, Aria flagged them over and ordered herself a refill. "And whatever she's having," the brunette concluded.

“I promise you, this is my first drink of the day. Am I not allowed to be in a good mood?” Aria could see why they would think that she was drunk, considering she hadn’t cracked a genuine smile in about three days. The petite brunette had been a personified rain cloud the past few weeks, ever since she’d been kicked out of her own love story. But she felt different today. Or at least she wanted to feel different, so she thought she’d at least give it a shot. Apparently “giving it a shot” meant getting a buzz, because that always seemed to lift her spirits. “Are you going to join me? No?”

“Oh yeah. Totally equal.” Jaycee chuckled, trying to ignore the fluttering in her chest when Aria winked at her. She was just being friendly, she wasn’t flirting, she told herself, but when their combined gazes fell onto what used to be their table, her heart only thumped louder. Fuck, she was in this way too deep and it was clear she was going to end up getting hurt, yet she couldn’t tear herself away. Jaycee had always been a glutton for punishment. “That’s a surprise.” She commented, heading up to the counter with Aria and giving the new barista a smile. Thanking the girl for the coffee, she followed Aria over to their table. The younger woman’s teasing comment brought a blush over her cheeks, much to her own annoyance. The blonde slipped into her seat and blew on the hot liquid, eager to get some caffeine into her system. At the question, she looked up, locking eyes with her former girlfriend right when she mentioned missing her. Shit. “Oh, it’s been six months, I think. I haven’t… been to the city in a while.” She’d been avoiding her after the breakup, not that she was about to admit it. And somehow Aria had fallen back into Erin’s arms…again. It was hard to compete with that kind of history. Desperate for a distraction, Jaycee focused on the coffee, pouring some creamer inside just for something else to do, swirling the liquid with the little stirring straw. “Coffee’s the only vice I’ve got left anymore.” She murmured, referring to the fact that she was several years sober now and had recently given up smoking, too. “So, when’s the wedding?” She said sharply, straightening up in her seat. “I heard Hanna’s a pro designer these days, maybe she’ll design your dress.”
Just because it was natural for Aria to flirt with Jaycee, didn't mean that it was suddenly okay. The ring on her finger was a constant reminder of Erin's love, but right now, she wished she could just take it off and chuck it into the nearest trash can. She hated that things were so uncertain between her and her fiancee, and Jaycee's appearance certainly didn't make things any easier. Having the blonde around brought her back to an easier time. She didn't have to worry about any Nicoles interfering with the relationship. It was just the two of them, and they were happy. Having the blonde around again made Aria wonder why she'd ever let her go in the first place. Oh, right. Because of Erin. That really turned out well for her. Aria kept her eyes focused mostly on her coffee cup for the first minute or two after sitting across from Jaycee. When she was told that her ex hadn't been to the city in a while, Aria knew instantly that she was the reason. "Yeah, that's um -- that's a shame," she nodded, looking up at Jaycee with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. When the blonde referred to coffee, Aria's gaze turned down toward the cup between Jaycee's hands. "That's not necessarily a bad thing, is it?" she asked, eyes locking with the other woman's once again. When the topic of conversation changed to the wedding, Aria found herself for once, not wanting to talk about it. She shrugged and answered anyway. "We -- We actually haven't set a date yet," Aria said, finally taking a sip of her coffee, "Um, things got in the way of that. I-I'm sure we'll sit down and talk about it one of these days, but um...we're hoping for a summer wedding." Leaning back in her chair, a chuckle leaving her lips. "The dress is actually the one thing I don't have to worry about. I'm wearing my mom's wedding dress that Hanna altered. She'd had a design in mind ever since I showed her the ring." It wasn't until she finished speaking that she realized how awkward it was for her to talk about all of this with her ex-girlfriend. A change of subject was desperately needed. "So! Houses. You sell houses..that -- that's really awesome. You're like...Rosewood famous now," Aria laughed.

It wasn’t like Jaycee wasn’t aware about the whole Erin & Nicole thing. It was hard to avoid given it was on the news all the damn time, and she knew Aria had to be having a difficult time with it. Still, it wasn’t something she felt comfortable bringing up. She knew how it felt to feel like she’d been sidelined by somebody. Even if she didn’t know the truth she wouldn’t have believed Aria’s lie that things were great. Jaycee knew Aria better than that. She could spot her lying from a mile away. She wouldn’t dare call her out on it, though, as it would only serve to make things awkward. Everyone said they were good when people asked, it was just the polite thing to do. “I kind of figured. But hey, a discount for me? If you’re looking to buy a house, I’ll offer you the same courtesy.” She chuckled, following the shorter female into the familiar coffee shop. It felt strange being here with Aria, as if they’d been transported back in time. She knew herself well enough to know that spending time with Aria wasn’t the right thing for her heart, but she just couldn’t stay away. Her eyes fell onto the girl behind the counter and a smirk came to her face. “Thanks for the warning. I’ll just get a regular coffee, black. No screwing that one up. And if you’ve got time.. I’d love to catch up.” As she looked at Aria, the thought dawned on her how crazy it was. The other woman looked exactly the same, after all these years. She didn’t have the pink streak she used to have back when she was a kid, but she still maintained that wide eyed innocent look that Jaycee had always been attracted to.
It went without asking that Jaycee likely knew all about the drama surrounding Aria's relationship with Erin, unless the blonde had been living under a rock for the past six months. Not that she'd admit it, but Aria felt like her relationship with Erin was on life support with Nicole back. They probably wouldn't even be together, if Nicole hadn't been presumed dead. She felt so pathetic for hanging onto something that was already so fragile to begin with, but it was hard to let go of someone who had been such an important part of her life for so long. She still loved Erin greatly, and maybe she was just hoping that Erin would realize that she loved Aria just as much. "Hmm...I'm giving you free coffee, so I think a free house would be equal, right?" the brunette asked, giving Jaycee a teasing wink. They frequented this coffee shop all the time back when they were together. Her eyes instantly moved toward "their table". It was vacant, surprisingly enough, considering it was the best table in the house, in Aria's opinion. Her heart fluttered strangely at the idea of catching up with her ex-girlfriend, but she nodded anyway. "Yeah, I'm wide open for the afternoon, so...catching up sounds great." The new girl recognized Aria right away as the pair made their way up to the counter, and they exchanged light smiles and waves. "Hey, I'm back," she chuckled before glancing at Jaycee briefly "Um, large coffee, please." The drink was made quickly, and Aria lead them over to their table, hoping Jaycee wouldn't protest. "I bet this table missed us," she commented with a chuckle before sitting across from Jaycee, allowing her eyes to linger on the blonde's face for a minute. It was times like these that had Aria wondering why she let Jaycee go in the first place. "So how long have you been back?" she asked, "It's been a while since I've bumped into you in NYC..I kind of miss that."

She tried to keep things casual as she spoke, as if seeing Aria here didn’t cause her heart to speed up. Her feelings for the brunette were likely always going to be there, but from what she heard the other woman was engaged, so there was no point in lingering on a relationship that was long over. Still, the wounds were there, and it hurt to look at the woman she still loved. Instead of lingering on her pain and betraying it visibly, she put on a brave face and grinned at her ex girlfriend. She only allowed that grin to falter when Aria commented on how it looked like her life was going well. “Yeah… I’m doing great. I hope you are, too, Aria.” That was a statement she meant sincerely. She paused. “Well, I’m already here, so might as well go in. Let me buy you one? Or does your fiance let you drink for free?” She teased, unable to keep from mentioning Erin to try and test how things were between the two of them. Jaycee hesitated as she headed toward the front door of the Brew, holding it out for the other woman and hoping she’d at least give them a chance to catch up over coffee. The least they could do is be friends. They were mature enough to do that.
It seemed as if things hadn't changed much. Jaycee's presence still did weird things to Aria. And now that things with Erin and their engagement were so up in the air, these feelings were the last thing Aria needed to deal with. But at the same time, Jaycee seemed to have a fantastic way of bringing Aria back down from a stressed state. If Aria were being honest with herself, Jaycee was just the kind of person she needed in her life right now. But it wasn't that simple. The history between the two of them was filled with more downs than ups. Besides, trouble seemed to follow Aria and her friends wherever they went. If Jaycee was doing well for herself, then Aria didn't want to do anything that would ruin that. She nodded her head almost too eagerly. "Oh, yeah! Things are going great. I'm, um -- I'm really happy right now, and...yeah, things are great," she replied, knowing instantly that she likely wasn't convincing anyone right now. Glancing back toward the coffee shop, Aria grinned a little more genuinely. "Yeah, I get that 'my fiancee owns the place' discount," the brunette teased back, glad that things weren't so tense that they couldn't at least joke with each other, "And...that discount extends to friends, too, so let's get you a cup." Ugh. The weirdest feeling came to her chest when she referred to Jaycee as her friend. It just didn't feel right. Aria walked right back into The Brew, offering Jaycee a glance and a sweet smile as she walked past. "I wouldn't recommend the latte, if I were you. The girl behind the counter is new, and those seem to be a weak spot for her right now."

Jaycee laughed, looking over her shoulder at the new billboard her real estate agency had put up with her face on it. She’d just gotten out of the car to head into the Brew to grab a cup of coffee when she ran into someone she knew. The other woman was staring at her and then the billboard with an incredulous look on her face. “I know, right? Like my head needed to be any bigger,” She crossed her arms and let out a sigh. “The agency said my face was made for it. They paid me, though, so I’m not gonna complain. But… I might have to avoid this street corner for the rest of my life. Know anywhere else in Rosewood with decent coffee?”
As usual, The Brew was always Aria's first stop right after coming home to Rosewood. She'd practically been all over the world, and yet, she'd never met a better cup of coffee than the ones she got here. The one downfall to returning to Rosewood, was that it was like the worst memories of her life were on a constant loop whenever the plane touched down. But there had also been some good memories here, too -- as few and far between as they were. One face seemed to pop up quite frequently in the thirty minutes she'd been home. Sure, Aria was happy that Jaycee that things were looking up for her former flame, but she didn't want to be constantly reminded of what could have been, compared to what her love life currently looked like. She was just walking out of the Brew with her cup when, like unfortunate magic, up comes Jaycee herself, looking just as gorgeous as ever. There were a billion flirty things that came to the tip of her tongue, but Aria swallowed them down and shrugged. "Hey, whatever sells some houses, right?" she grinned, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "Decent coffee? Hmm. Not sure. There's a starbucks a few blocks away, if you're into that." A hesitant moment passed before Aria added, "It, um, it looks like you're doing really well."
