one thing i will absolutely say about tumblr is that i guess it was my first online journal. i mean blogspot, WHOA but it was the first space where i felt i could share creatively and be heard (only/primarily) by complete strangers, which has a certain safety to it

my brother has mentioned to me over and over that i should get on tiktok

as a creative, and business owner, i'll do well there, he says

i don't doubt that what he says is true

i just don't fit into capitalism that way

it always feels icky to me - doing things for the express purpose of been seen so people will buy my stuff

but there's a reframing that's needed there - i'm working on it

i'll say this: tumblr was my safe space like twitter tried to be, except twitter had too many people on it that i knew

i like being a stranger until i want to come out and play

What's so crazy is

that tumblr actually still exists. i'm inspired, confused and encouraged all at once

i used to write SO MUCH POETRY on here! And then I fell into the IG loop. And got lazy because reposting was so much easier. Where is the app that's part tumblr, part ommwriter?? is that substack??

if you’re black and want to go into a creative field don’t let your family discourage you from it. its all too common for our families to force on us medical, healthcare, business or any other field that they deem will “make money”. our families may be close minded and not believe in being artists, writers, journalists, photographers, directors, etc. but if that’s your passion then go for it. because passion breeds success.
