Here's something that's been in my mind for a while about the Ranchers as a duo.

Neither of them ever have the best time in the Life Series. Both Jimmy and Tango have gone through various series of misfortunes along their runs. However, the way each of them deals with it is almost completely opposite to each other.

Jimmy has always been hopeful. When the canary curse is brought up, he's actively defiant towards it. He has sworn that he has plans to win the next Life Series.

Tango, on the other hand, is resigned. He jokes about his own failures with a sarcastic and bitter tone. He doesn't have faith that things could ever go any better, because he believes that's just how it is with him.

When the two were paired in Double Life, Jimmy was the light that shined against Tango's pessimism. He helped him calm down and look past the negativity (Ranch being burned down), and focus on how they could proactively stand their ground and turn things in their favour (summoning the Warden).

Now, those two didn't do great at all in Double Life. They were limited to leather armour for a good chunk of the early game, Jimmy was constantly made fun of for not having a goat horn, etc. I've watched Tango's POV, and at times it really felt like the whole world was conspiring against them.

And yet, it didn't feel like a bleak, crushing hopelessness in any way. It just felt like two guys making the best that they could out of their circumstances. I firmly believe that this only came across that way because of Jimmy and his insistence to believe that things can turn out well, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Idk, it's just really sweet to think about. And it's definitely gonna have to come into play for the Soulmate Swap AU I'm writing. It'll be really interesting to see how differently Tango reacts to being the canary.

The posing and the expressions and the vibe!!!! I love how nervous Jimmy looks next to the other two who clearly aren’t having a good time either, and I’m so happy you loved the scene enough to draw it!!! The attention to detail with Grian’s posing especially has me grinning so hard right now! And Grumbot!!! <3333

This is a scene from the end of chapter 12! I thought it was hilarious how Jimmy was trying so hard to not reveal himself, but Grian and Joel immediately blows his cover, so I went ahead and drew it!
