Almost all of our chews come in 3 color-coded toughness levels.  The standard level is the softest and most flexible. We recommend starting with this level if you're not sure which one to get.  Our tougher XT (extra tough) and XXT (extra extra tough) levels are great for tougher chewers who may sometimes chew through things.  A good tip to keep in mind:  toughness level is important, but shape is too!  As a general rule:  bigger/thicker/wider shapes will feel tougher than smaller/thinner shapes, in any toughness levels.  Let us know if you need any help finding just the right chew!  https://www.arktherapeutic.com/oral-sensory-chews/

Looking for ways to work on jaw grading? Jaw grading is the ability to visually judge how far you need to open your mouth to take a bite out of certain foods and to say certain speech sounds. For example, say "ooooo" versus "aaahh" - can you feel the height difference in your jaw? It needs to open just a little bit for "eeee," but wider for "oooh." Or, imagine taking a bite out of a thin cracker versus a burger - there's a big difference in jaw heights. One of Debbie's favorite ways to work on jaw grading is with the Z-Vibe Animal Tips. Thank you so so much for your support autisticliving !!
Ark Therapeutic
More extensive review to come very soon, but I HIGHLY recommend that every single one of my autistic followers and everyone that stims/knows someone who stims checks out ArkTherapeutic.com right now! I’m serious this is the most wonderful site for sensory stimulation stuff, they’re super well priced, and their products are unbelievably cute and well-made. I’m usually a little annoyed by how ‘kiddish’ most wearable chewlery and stim stuff tends to be, but ark’s got super nice stuff that I love wearing, most especially the krypto-bite, which looks like a bright gem and comes in 3 levels of toughness (I prefer the soft) and so many other super awesome stim products! (Not just chew stuff, pretty much everything) They’re a super nice and friendly company and I would really appreciate it if everyone took a look through their stuff. I’m super happy with the products they’ve sent me and every autistic person deserves to at least browse their amazing catalog! I’m still healing from the mastectomy but a more extensive review of the specific products and toughness levels to come, and for now more info can be found on their website! Seriously I know that all my autistic and stimmy followers will probably love the krypto-bite, it’s one of the coolest products I have ever seen! Please boost this if you like what you see there, I want this wonderful family business to be supported and hopefully come out with even more fun stuff soon!! And a special thank you to the awesome people at Ark, you are way too kind!!

Feeding therapy tip: if a child won’t eat with a spoon, use whatever he/she WILL accept.   Even a twizzler!  Get them to eat comes first.  Using the right utensil can come later.

Having a child with feeding issues is one of the hardest problems to handle both for therapists and parents, and it’s of course stressful for the child as well.  Our lives often revolve around food!  And so does healthy growth and development.  So, take a deep breath and let’s roll up our sleeves.  This post covers the two main reasons why we see children with feeding difficulties, and what you can do to see improvements.  Click the source link to read more.
