Grocery Packaging
The first packing was the Chips Ahoy cookies. Not only are they good but I also found it fun to open the packaging and its ability to reseal is a plus. the fonts also play a big role in making it seem more exciting to eat the cookies.
The second one is of bagels. I chose this one because you can see right through the plastic and see the product that you are getting. I am also subconsciously hungry due to the color combination of red and yellow. this apparently appeals to a person's hunger.
the third packaging that i chose was of the tea. I liked that this package made me feel like i was at a beach relaxing with a lemon breeze. the text also has some character. the best example is the Zinger text because it feels like a zinger.
The fourth is the honey jar. this jar had texture that i liked and felt like it wouldn't slip out of my hand while i was using it. the label itself was also very appealing and made me want to put it in my tea.
the final one is of pineapple juice. this was also a jar in which i felt was sturdy and most things that are glass containers tend to be better. the text and the colors used in this label make me feel like its worth buying and is also healthy for you.

George Lois
The Graphic Designer that I searched for was George Lois. George Lois is an American art director, designer, and author. He is best known for over 92 covers he designed for magazines. I like the way that he designs the covers through humor and also the way that it can be seen as serious. Each one has its background and if you know that then you might just get the humor in it. Most of the ones that I picked because I've seen some of them and or they look really familiar. I also like them due to the emotion that is portrayed throughout them all.

Polish Poster Samples
In order:
The first poster I liked because it has a lot of movement. It contains strong sense emotion.
The second one I liked because of the cool color combination. It also has the sense of emotion and movement which I feel is crucial for art pieces. I also like that this shows the connection between two people by making it hard to see where their hair ends. Through all the swirls it can be seen as though everything is being mixed.
The third one i liked because it looked fun. It's basically a feel good poster. The colors and the white really pop and make the poster come together.
The fourth poster I thought was also fun. It combines a good piece of art with a little comedy and its looking right at you. It shows good use of the negative space to create the nose which I found hilarious.
The fifth one I liked because it had a lot of drama to it. The contrast between the three main colors helps with the dramatic feel to it. If someone is to see this poster from far away it can be seen as though the man is holding his face but closer you can see that there is an arm inside the man and is gouging his eyes out.

Fine Artists
The artist that I chose for the this assignment is Claes Oldenburg. I noticed that his piece of a paint brush is in Philadelphia and i have seen it before. I also recognize him from somewhere just not too positive where. I liked his structures because they are every day objects just enlarged and put in places where they seem to fit perfectly without making the place look bad.

Cultural trip
I went to the Art museum with my roommates because they showed a lot of interest in my projects. We walked and looked though all the art work. As we went along they asked questions on some of the art work. I answered most of the questions that I could. The one piece that caught me was one of a urinal fountain. We were asked if we considered it a piece of art or just something weird. I said that it was a piece of art since its main purpose was no longer in use. I thought it was really interesting that someone could take a urinal and turn it into a fountain. After that we went to a Mexican restaurant called El Azteca. I had a burrito which was really good.

Trip to the Art Museum and El Azteca
I went to the Art museum with my roommates. My roommates were every interested in my projects that i was doing for class so I decided to take them to the art museum. We went through most of the art and I answered most of the questions they had about some of the art work. My favorite part was being asked whether or not a urinal fountain was art. I said it was art because its main purposes is to be fountain. After the museum we went to the restaurant El Azteca which is a Mexican food place (my favorite).I had a burrito which was really good.

Thanksgiving in Rhode Island
Over the break we went to Rhode Island for my grandmother's 80th birthday. We took tours of the mansions in Newport. I didn't get the chance to take pictures of the inside of the mansions. We had thanksgiving at the Viking Hotel, the food was really good.They had an entree that had turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and of course cranberry sauce. So it was still a great thanksgiving and birthday party for my grandmother.

Interesting TypeFaces
The thing that makes all these typefaces interesting is that they aren't really ones that you see in real life situations. Most if these are novelties and are just for fun. My favorite is the top one because it is a 3-D effect and looks really appealing to the eyes. The weird ones are also appealing to me because they work and they just look awesome. The one with the ink bleeding is pretty appealing because it looks real and it looks like it would work well with a design for an art store or print store maybe something like staples. All typefaces have a purpose and therefore none are irrelevant or not used.

Color Combinations
The color combination of blue and grey is my favorite because that is found in nature. Most things in nature are fascinating to me because it's not like it's out of nowhere. The grey mixed into the the blue gives it a sense of a cool color temperature. I've never really seen many things or noticed the color combination like this before which is really surprising to me.The contrast between the blue and the grey is kind of an extreme due to the grey being close to white in my opinion. There is a good balance between the blue and the grey through out the whole image. Over all it is simple and has the look of nature along with artistic aspects.

Illustration Styles
Each style has their unique mark on the illustrations that we see in books and covers. The zebra illustration is simple and helps get the story to whoever is reading it. As a child I loved books with illustrations because it helped get the message across. Some of the illustrations I believe use watercolor as a medium. The soccer illustration I liked because it has lines that are straight and not messy like in other illustrations but that style would not work as well in trying to make an illustration that supposed to be messy. Most of these styles use the whole page and connect to each side. This helps move the eye around and doesn't just focus on one thing. the exception would be the elephant illustration. Most of them have a good sense of foreground, middle ground, and background. Each has a balance of colors and line thickness that help bring the illustration together.

Logo Designs
I was told by one of my teachers to always keep it simple stupid. That's how I feel about these logos. Not they're stupid, but they are simple and get their point across. The Nike logo is by far one of the most recognizable logos. I feel that it has a lot to do with its simplicity. It can also be transformed and regenerated and still maintain the shape and meaning. the Playstation logo is also simple, and also maintains its meaning. This logo is better than the new one because it has the form of a cube similar to the shape of the console which gives it definition to what it is supposed to be. My favorite logo is the Infiniti logo because of the triangle that it creates that seems to keep going on and on hence the name Infiniti. Both the Bird and the Push the Bottle logo I felt showed great imagination and creativity and the B on the Bird logo created the B without having it all there. That same thing goes for the bottle logo. All the logos represent the ideas clearly and with creativity.

CD Cover Design
Most of the designs that I chose were simple and still had success in the over all appearance of the cover. The success of the covers comes from the movement that is created using the background, middle ground , and foreground. In order for an art piece to be successful it must make the eye move all around and the use of lines helps create this. Color pairings are also good for the success of a design. Colors help create form and depending on the shade it can set moods. Placement of certain images can help the design with eye movement which to me is what makes the covers successful. I liked these designs because they mix real images with artistic styles that make them more interesting.

Inspiration for Graphic Design
My inspiration comes from my family motivating me to follow my talents. My aunt is also into art which helped me get into projects that involved me using design to create a work of art that others could admire. By far my family would be my inspiration for being interested in Graphic Design.
