Amadeo's Venice (part 1 of 5)

I went to Venice a few weeks ago and I kept thinking of Armand wandering those streets and canals over 500 years ago, seeing many of the same things I was seeing. I thought it would be fun to put some of my pictures together with passages from The Vampire Armand. So now here we are, a travelogue based on one of my favorite books. Settle in, this is going to take a few posts since I can only add so many images to each post. *******

I adore The Sims 4. I can control each character, make them experience suffering, but likewise joy; put them through hardships and have them come out the other end relatively intact, but changed.

My current playthrough consists of a vampire farm boy whose extenuating circumstances mean that he experiences difficulties sufficiently caring for the animals he adores. Herein lies the paradox: a vampire who longs to live how humans do, and who can seldom feel alive (funny, “alive” as a vampire) without harming himself whenever he tries.

Anyway. He has two daughters now and he is using a wealthier woman as means of providing for them. He lost the farm — slowly his animals withered away, and he found himself unable to provide for them — and he has become bitter, living only for his children while praying that they did not inherit his curse. They are young, for now. They will soon age. Their mother will perish and it will be their distant father doing everything for them.

And they are none the wiser.

Side note: FitGirl’s Sims 4 repack was a game-changer for me. I highly recommend it if you can figure it out.

Navigating the Metro today. Somebody save me.

Yesterday was a wonderful day. I visited the Fao Schwarz toy store and was bapped on the head by a boomerang.

Today I am going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Ideally I will not encounter anything that reminds me of my past. Logically I know I will. Venetian artists of the past, even older South Asian artworks, there are so many small things from my history that will manifest here. But I am prepared.

Plus, there’s Cabaret afterwards.
