So I just found out recently about the snk smartpass au. So basically these side stories are canon because they're published by the snk production team and are approved by Isayama himself.

So here's a monologue of Moblit while standing next to levi waiting for the rain to stop:

So basically Moblit is jealous of Levi and Hanji's bond.

In the next panel however, levi talked about how hard it must be to be hanji's subordinate because:

So it turns out that Levi is jealous of moblit who gets to watch over hanji 24/7 and this au proves so much about their bond and his feelings towards hanji.

Their relationship wasn't made out of thin air just like how everyone thinks it is. It's not over the top and it's not just purely romantic, It's so much more.

If my ultimate fear of time loop theory, the fear I have had for 8 years by now come to true in the final chapter, I’ll read AOT from start to finish one more time just to digest the fact that they are in an eternal loop of misery. I keep getting Devilman Crybaby vibes... god.

I dont know if you saw but there's a post on Twitter that translates isayamas rough draft of chapter 138 and he leaves a note that says draw mikasas ideal. So It seems like it's not an au

Ofc I saw it, anonie 😂 Twitter and Tumblr are literally the only places where I chill 24/7. I think it’s what she wanted, because Eren said:

And Isayama also wrote that Mikasa’s ideal place to live would be similar to Switzerland (because there’s no Switzerland in AoT). I think it’s Mikasa’s idea about ideal life with Eren. Like, Mikasa used to live in mountains with her parents and she always wanted to go back to those days.

Also Mikasa regretted her answer in ch.123, so this was she considered ideal. It’s not a delusional by any means. Simply what she wanted and what Eren accepted, since both of them are living in a place surrounded by mountains.

This dream/illusion/au is their common thing. It’s what both of them wanted not only Mikasa or Eren. But I still find it confusing to identify, because I still don’t understand what exactly it is😂 We are probably either going to get at least some explanation on this or just let it be as a mysterious thing like paths.

I understand that not everything has to be exactly similar but..

But then here we see nothing. Not a smile or any tears. Why? Just an inconsistency or maybe we will get a little something more from these two next chapter? I do believe eren is dead and he will stay dead but we still don't know everything about paths so something unexpected can happen like him saying goodbye to mikasa and wrapping that scarf like he promised. Please....

In a way this chapter they both did say their goodbyes so maybe I am being greedy. I would love to hear what you think about this and is a scarf wrapping moment out of picture? Or could it still happen? There's still a lot more to be addressed so I am not sure if EM will get that much focus again. But I was thinking it would be perfect if we see a moment between eren and mikasa before it segues to the final panel "you are free" like how in chapter 131, we saw eren walking us through different memories.

The more I think about the alternate reality, the more hurt I actually feel than relief. It was undeniably canon. Both Eren and Mikasa lived in that reality, it was a shared dream with only the two of them knows. They are like two strings woven together. Their souls are intertwined since the very beginning. This alternate reality was like the butterfly effect.

In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. The concept is imagined with a butterfly flapping its wings and causing a typhoon.

Mikasa's answer during 123 is pivotal because we now know in 138 that it could've actually changed the chain of events.

Had she chose another answer that day, it could've really changed everything. It was a very small detail (a flap of a butterfly) but it led to a different path, a large difference of their current reality (a typhoon). It changed something throughout all parts of the immeasurable whole. Eren was willing to give everything up when he asked that question. He showed his vulnerabilities on Mikasa in this very moment. It was his last straw to not give in to the future he saw.

And in this reality, when Mikasa chose to be honest with her feelings, the two chose to abandon their responsibilities, both put their selfish desires above all, both made a different outcome of reality.

Both paths weren't ideal. Whether it was the current event or the alternate reality, one way or another, people died. Innocent lives were sacrificed.

But then again, Eren and Mikasa are selfless. They chose what they think was best for their people. The alternative reality indeed happened but it isn't the reality that the current Eren and Mikasa are living in with. It was not the path they chose to take and there is no undoing that. And so Mikasa chose to reject Eren's wish to forget about him, chose to not live in that alternate reality and has chosen to live with her remembering Eren and with her being the one to end Eren. She was his salvation.

It hurts to see that even in another reality, Eren and Mikasa were bound to be together and bound to be apart for as long as they live in a cruel world.

Maybe, in another life, when the world's a less cruel place, maybe they can finally be together.

everyone's talking about mikasa's au in 138 and her tragedy and yeah i hear you but did you see poor girl annie seeing her dad for the first time in years and. that happened.

So I was skimming through the chapter again when I re-encountered this panel and came to a devastating realization:

If you look at Annie's arms, you can see that she was trying to embrace her father but missed out at the last second due to him transforming from the gas/smoke. Man I tell ya, this series is great and all but you can't get through it without your heart being destroyed multiple times in the process 😭😭😭.

With all the time travel shenanigans lately we still have not got an explanation for the first scene in the manga, despite these chapters having already been connected to the present day (to you, 2000 years from now, from you, 2000 years ago). Due to the structure of the final arc paralelling the first arc, I believe that the meaning of Mikasa’s words will be revealed in either the final chapter, or the penultimate chapters leading up to the final. In other words these are Mikasa’s first words to Eren in the manga, and they will also be her last. Because these are the words she’ll say to him right after she kills him.
