ok so i really love how andor shows the most smart and competent imperials ending up dead or in a cell because they were smarter and more competent. because in the end that's true of fascism in real life. they want the appearance of being ruthless and pragmatic and dedicated to maintaining order or whatever but the thing is looking that way often ironically requires actually being the opposite. the focus on arresting and imprisoning and executing as many people as possible detracts from a legitimate focus on managing actual important problems and whatnot.
the dedra meeros and lio partagazes of the world can't get very far as a direct result of the fact that the fascist system they serve doesn't want people who will do whatever it takes, it wants people who will prioritize making a big show of being scary and throwing their weight around.
andor is such a great demonstration of how fascism isn't just evil. it's also stupid and impractical.

i never thought i'd be drawing parallels between kleya marki and armitage hux of all characters but like. something about characters who are stone-cold and ruthless and seemingly just built for war because that's all they ever stood a chance of becoming. that's the only thing they could ever grow up to be. there's no time to be a child when there's a war on. anyway the tldr here is that i love kleya

that damn baby is gonna grow up never understanding the sheer extent to which its father was the single coolest motherfucker to ever live in a galaxy far far away. and then it's gonna be an adult at the perfect time to experience the next big galactic scale war š„
#andor spoilers#the series finale emotionally devastated me of course. 10/10 as usual bravo gilroy#maybe the kid will grow up to do a sequel trilogy version of the rogue 1 suicide mission (ā joking)

Insane question I feel I can only ask here..,,.,,,..do you think circumcision is something that happens in the Star Wars universe?? And, if yes, do you think hux is circumcised?
honestly, i think it probably does happen in the star wars universe. enough Things that happen in real life have been referenced in star warsāthe words "hell" and "damn," for one, and the practice (at least in some star wars cultures) of married women taking their husband's surnameāand while these practices likely have different origins in a galaxy far far away (i.e. i doubt The Actual Abrahamic God and associated religions are a thing there), it still seems like there's some convergent culture-evolution going on there. so it'd almost be weird if there wasn't at least one planet or culture in star wars that practiced circumcision.
that said, i doubt hux is. arkanis is super irish-coded and circumcision is uncommon in ireland. and then also the first order didn't want to waste power getting medical droids to circumcise conscripts.
this is the funniest ask i have ever gotten, godspeed soldier of space circumcision

Big fan of characters who ākillā their younger selves. Characters who resent the past version of themselves for letting them get hurt, who look at that kid and feel revolted by the foreignness of it. Characters who feel they have to cut the child out of them like a tumor because itās hurting them too much and if I donāt kill you youāll kill me. Nearly nothing remaining of that past self but for the little connections and mannerisms they canāt kick, and when it shines through, itās a terrible, tragic thing, because the child is still in there. Itās in there and itās grotesque in its suffocation. But itās there.

do you think historians in a galaxy far far away argue about whether or not armitage hux was responsible for his father's assassination. or whether or not he was actually that great an aerospace engineer. do you think there are shakespeare-didn't-write-all-that style pop history conspiracy theories claiming that hux couldn't possibly have actually designed any ships or weapons, because he didn't have the right education, or because the technology to do something like starkiller didn't exist yet in the first century ABY, etc. do you think there are shitty historically inaccurate in-universe period pieces set during the cold war featuring a villain that is nominally armitage hux but looks nothing like him or is too old or mashes up him and kylo ren into one person or has a weird subplot about him developing an obsession with some plucky young woman from the resistance or whatever

the proto-first-order apparently spent months drifting through space aboard the imperialis replica before they found the eclipse.
the imperialis is 120 meters long and built to accommodate twenty passengers and a crew of eight.
the child soldier platoon alone had almost 2.5 times that many, assuming hux's fn number means there were 69 kids in the platoon (including him). i don't think we even know how many other people were there besides the kids.
could a tiny ship meant for less than 30 people even store enough food or water to support a population of over 70?
you know the replica imperialis was absolutely jam packed like sardines and everyone was dehydrated and hungry all the time. for months. while drifting around the unknown regions, a notoriously dangerous part of the galaxy. i swear hux's backstory just gets more and more horrifying the more you think about it
#this post isn't intended as a ''stupid writers didn't think about the logistics >:('' post btw#humans can and indeed regularly have to survive in similar (but not in space) circumstances in real life.#this post is intended as a ''god blorbo from my shows has such a nightmarish backstory wow'' post

some of you need to realize that your faves would be having unsafe bdsm sex because they donāt actually know what bdsm sex is, they just want to fuck and also kill each other. you must understand this.
#this is why i find it quite funny when kylux smut has them being realistically healthy & respectful about it all#like cmon man.....no they aren't š#no matter who's doing what neither of those guys is keeping it safe sane or consensual

whatever you do don't think about hux spending his childhood fully convinced that after the war, he's going to find a safe planet to settle down on and have a proper civilian life.
sure, the imperialis has been drifting across the unknown regions for months, but they'll land soon. then instead of a planet they find the eclipse. and months turns into years and "soon" turns into "someday" which turns into "wouldn't it be nice if..."
and then it's been ten, fifteen, twenty years. and hux isn't sure he really believes he'll ever get to see an "after the war" anymore.
#hux's whole backstoryāand present-story tbhājust gets more sad and fucked up the more u think about it man š#armitage hux

writing a fic from hux's POV is so funny because i hc him as using a fake accent in the movies and so from a writing perspective i'm essentially writing him as an irish dude who acts british for work purposes, except i'm canadian and i don't know a lot about any UK or irish dialects/slang/etc., so i'm sure if i ever finish this damn thang people will read it and be like "girl what is this weird mishmash of dialects. are u american" and the real kicker is it's actually all taking place in another galaxy filtered through a translation convention so i probably should not be worrying this much about perfectly replicating any real world dialects. but my perfectionist tendencies are rivaled only by hux himself
