thinking abt the scene in Longlegs where Ruby is in her room and says her dad doesnt let her throw away things from her childhood cus it keeps her from growing up too fast and then we go to Lee Harker's moms house where she has hoarded every item from Lee's childhood including teeth and hair to keep her from growing up and in the end it works because as soon as she gets her memories back we become aware that she has not grown past 9yr old due to her trauma and her mom denying such trauma existing, just ugh! amazing storytelling, deny the trauma, deny the time passing, deny that things change, deny that your daughter dreads to pick up the phone, deny that you made your daughter scared of god and the devil, deny your participation in her trauma and the evil unfolding, Ruth Harker is like a collar on a dog that has stayed on too tight too long and has fused with the flesh
