probably surprising to no one, but this blog is now an archive. i’ve wanted a restart for a long time, and my seeming inability to turn off beta on this account looks like a good sign. when i have an internet set-up that doesn’t have sessionbox and can do more than ½ mbps, i’ll relaunch this blog—until then, my continued adventures can be found on @empirefire and @gallowshade… though the latter is suffering from sessionboxless life too, but still. catch u on the flip side.

so uh. psa i guess that one (1) of my accounts getting tumblr beta’d completely broke sessionbox for all of them. also if you get beta’d on an account you’re using sessionbox on, you need to log in to that account on a non-sessionbox tab in order to get the option to opt-out of beta.

hey. i hate to have to ask for money here, especially knowing i’m far the only one who’s struggling, but the social support offices fucked me over by paying me €260 less than i’m due and it will take weeks before i can do anything. my first priority is getting money for food and the rent that’s due first of march, as i’m in a new apartment rented by an impatient landlord and already was weeks late paying for this month for this exact same reason even if i didn’t know what the issue was at the time, and i’m fucked if i lose this flat. the fact that my working laptop is bust and i can’t do commissions to help myself either is certainly not helping.

wanting to be happy about the positives of cm ending vs knowing that once the show goes off the air, finding people willing to roleplay in the last few seasons is gonna get even more difficult and even fewer people will watch for long enough to get to know matt.

going slightly against my earlier headcanons about the matter, i’m starting to lean more and more to the idea that ben simmons wasn’t really a good dad. i’ve talked a lot on this blog about how i view mi-young to have been the stronger influence in matt’s life—most of what makes him great comes from his mother, and his mother’s influence i used to attribute mostly to ben’s death and mi-young being matt’s link to his korean and asian identity, but as the season has progressed, i’m starting to get the idea that ben wasn’t entirely faultless either.

matt certainly doesn’t view him as a bad man, doesn’t seem to be particularly traumatised by his father—and yet, there’s a distinct lack of his presence in both shows, he’s only mentioned once and even that in direct relation to matt’s mother and not him, and when kristy comments on the crib colour matt chose being  ‘ daddy issues red ’, it almost looks like it cut… a little bit deeper than it was intended to, a little bit deeper than a joke that boils down to  ‘ if our child grows to hate you this crib colour will be the reason why ’  should, especially as matt can’t really excuse his apparently insecurity at the phrase with being a new dad.

i could name something about the father of almost every other bau member—a fun fact, profession, hobby, first name—and yet has never mentioned him in the mainshow. never compared himself to him, never shared his father’s wisdom;  for a character who is so largely defined by his writers by his fatherhood, that sure feels like an oddity.
