i think people are just horny but YES the bird!!! such an interesting concept. what birds are they? do they groom each other? do they chat with the merpeople? do they have nests? are they birthed through eggs or like mammals?

nyx. question. when you think about sirens what visual do you have

visual?? as in what i think abt???? i personally think about the scene in the odessey where all the crew had to stuff their ears full of wax and odysseus sets himself up to hear their song. so idk i imagine a beautiful scene with various tones of bright blues and purples. if u mean the sirens themselves i tend to imagine them as the sort of beauty that comes with a song rather than actual captivating women/monster things. i tend to imagine a orchestra of sorts but thats probably just bc of my preference in music not visiuals lmao.

Researchers often find these small shrimp, Hymenopenaeus doris, hanging upside down, motionless in the water.

While performing this “zombie-like��� behavior, the shrimp look a lot like a discarded exoskeleton sinking slowly through the dark midwater. Scientists speculate that the shrimp might reduce their chances of being eaten by mimicking a sinking molt.

This odd behavior might also be an adaptation to conserve energy since the shrimp live at depths where the seawater contains very little oxygen. Animals found in low-oxygen environments have a harder time moving rapidly or for long distances.
