What is Deep Vein Thrombosis
DVT, Deep Vein Thrombosis, is a condition that occurs when a blood clot forms in deep veins, usually seen in the lower legs or thigh areas. These clots can cause leg swelling or pain, they can also sometimes occur with no symptoms. Blood clots can become very serious if they break free, move through your bloodstream, and get struck in other organs, cutting the blood flow to your lungs.
DVT can occur if you have certain medical ailments that influence how your blood clots. Sitting for a long time or not making much activity can lead to blood clots in a particular area. Especially, if you are on a long drive, and need to sit in a place, or when you have had surgery and you’re on bed rest, it is always suggested to have mild body movements like, hands clapping, basic exercises.
Deep vein thrombosis can result in a serious condition that can lead to a number of other serious health issues, such as heart attack, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or even life threat.
