Team Chaotix week day 1: Noir once apron a time I had the idea that action scenes in my comic would have this simplified, silhouette style… well now that didn’t happen but here’s a sample of what if I’d done a more au noir style story haha

Basically immediately knew what I wanted to do with this one (the same can not be said for my other pieces lmao) just a matter of fine tuning and deciding on colouring style. Overall I think it came out cool ^^

Mito is 16 when she accidentally sets the fourth building on fire in Uzu no Kuni after another failed sealing experiment. It’s then that she gets the nickname “Firecracker”. She causes another two big fires after that.

In Uzushio, she causes fire only once, mostly because she leaves Uzushio not long after its foundation to move over to Konoha for Hashirama.

Hashirama gets a warning letter from Ashina but doesn’t take it all too seriously. After all, Mito is a polished, refined woman, so what’s there to worry, right? He lives only three months in blissful ignorance before there’s a massive forest fire, and in the middle of it Mito, rugged and dirty and wearing a bashful smile on her face as she only shrugs and says, “Whoops.”

Madara reluctantly approves. These two really are made for each other. (Also, he does enjoy a good fire, he’s not gonna lie there.)

Tobirama is horrified™. This is not proper safety procedure for testing out new sealing jutsu, what the fuck. So he drags her to his lab for future experimenting—and it works! For about a year before Mito accidentally blows up the lab and with it half of the Senju district. (Hashirama is kind of impressed with this one but he won’t admit that out loud.)

For a lack of better ideas, Hashirama sends Mito over to the Forest of Death (which came to be because of his own failed experiments with the mokuton) to practice her new seals there. Funny enough, the Forest of Death seems to like the explosions and grows even bigger with every accidental fire Mito causes. They call it Training Ground 44 because that’s what Hashirama and Mito essentially use it for in the end. (If anyone had any doubts of their relationship before that, now everyone knows these two are truly made for each other.)

After everyone is gone and Mito suddenly finds herself stuck in the boundaries of Konoha’s newly set parameters she as a jinchuuriki is bound to, she can’t go over to Training Ground 44 anymore—so she practices in the middle of Konoha instead. She “accidentally” sets five buildings and two forests on fire before her passing. And she imagines Hashirama’s fond laughter and Tobirama’s horrified expression before her eyes. It’s one of the few joys she has left.

Because for all she may come from the sea and be born by the whirlpools, fire will always be part of Mito’s home. In more ways than one.
