* JOSIE SALTZMAN : OPEN !
everything’s fine —— until it hits. a new memory disrupts the otherwise peaceful day that josie’s having. she suddenly feels like she’s stuck somewhere. like in a room without windows for too long, running out of oxygen. wait no… not just stuck. buried. josie’s hand presses firmly against her chest as she struggles to breathe. for the moment, she feels as though she’s back in the dirt. she tries to stand up, to rush out, and unintentionally bumps into someone in the process. “i’m… sorry…” josie mumbles, on the border of hyperventilating now. why can she remember her biological mother burying her alive ?
matt’s hand is clutched around his cane, tapping it on the ground in front of him for effect. he doesn’t really need it to move around, and he is still coming to terms with the fact that the entire world knows that so pretending was mostly useless – but old habits die hard. he can feel and hear the woman’s panic rising from the other side of the sidewalk, and he stops in his tracks. his instinct is to drop everything and help, but he knows better than to over-step his boundaries. people who didn’t expect it from a blind man tended to find it shocking. he takes an unnecessary step towards her when she falls forward, bumping into him, and he reaches his arms out to try and steady her. “don’t apologize,” he says softly, shaking his head. “you didn’t hurt me.” she was going to hyperventilate. he presses his lips together and does his best to smile gently. “hey. you’re okay. you hear my voice? it’s okay.”

chris pratt. cis male. bisexual. — HAN SOLO from ( star wars ) is streaming live ! they’re thirty six y/o & a mechanic ; they arrived ( one year ) ago, & they ( do ) remember their old life. fans say they’re [ LOYAL + CONFIDENT ] but [ IRRESPONSIBLE + VAIN ] & associate them w/ blasters, muddy boots, grease stains, stargazing, tattoos, flight, leather jackets, dice.
01. when the virtual reality shut down, what was your muse’s reaction ? how did they handle the dark period ? ( if your muse died in canon: how would they have reacted ? )
when the virtual reality shut down, han was dead. if he hadn’t been dead, he probably would’ve lost his mind, or close to it; he doesn’t take well to silence or darkness. he is, by nature, a person who feels the constant need to be moving, to have a purpose, and in the dark period, he was deprived of that.
02. what was their reaction to finding out they were fiction ? how did they feel about the idea of becoming real ? ( if your muse died in canon: how will or did they react to finding out they were fiction ? )
yeah, han solo wasn’t a fan. he’s stubborn as an ox and uncowed by anything; when it was suggested that he was fictional, he lost his fucking mind. does my whole entire life sound fictional to you? every single thing he experienced had felt real enough, been real enough to him, so who the fuck were they to say it was all make believe? call it hard denial. he knows, on some level, that it’s true, but he’ll die before admitting it out loud. he thinks the whole thing is bullshit.
03. before the island, where did they live ? what was their reset life like ? what drew them to the island ?
han grew up to the poorest family in a rural iowa town, an only child with a deadbeat dad who didn’t work but didn’t mind beating his wife and child. his mom started as a teacher, but lost her job when han was six years old. things got worse and worse after that; han had to steal food for them to survive. both of his parents knew what he was doing, and his mom often told him that stealing was bad, but they never stepped in, because if han stopped, they would surely starve to death. he got a job at fourteen in a mechanic’s garage the next town over with a larger, slightly wealthier population. his position was illegal but the garage owner took pity on him and his familial situation. they called it an ‘internship’, but the boss paid han under the table.
when han was fifteen, his parents were driving their junkyard car to pick him up from his work at the garage. his father was behind the wheel and was drunk; they swerved off the road and drove right into the side of a sixteen wheeler. both of his parents died instantly. he went along with the legal proceedings at first in a daze, trying to wrap his head around what just happened – but they suddenly made it clear that he would end up in ‘the system’, up for adoption until he was 18 and legally allowed to leave. three years was a long time to have to follow a certain set of rules in a government sanctioned system, and han was not a fan. so he ran away.
han got caught up in a group that considered themselves the ‘robin hood’ type, and it was there he found the first group of people he considered home. they lived as a found family in an abandoned warehouse that they made home, and committed crimes during the day. they robbed, mostly, specifically targeting the inexcusably wealthy. they were mostly based in chicago, but moved throughout the midwest, with the ultimate goal of making it to california or new york, whichever promised the best opportunities in the future. han started a relationship with a woman in the group. she was his first love.
and they did eventually make it to new york when han was 26 – but their first hit in the big city went way, way wrong, ending deadly. they were all scattered, some dead because of the disaster hit, some captured by police. han was one of the ones who made it out, and he found the group leader and the woman he loved – but they turned on him, let the police catch him and believe that he was the only survivor of the group responsible. the police didn’t believe his story that there had been others involved and they were still on the loose, thinking he was just trying to diffuse blame and lighten his punishment. han, of course, ended up in prison.
but that didn’t last long either. a few twists of fate and somehow, someway, he managed to escape when he was 30. he knew a guy who knew a guy, one last connection from his con-days, who helped him re-invent his identity. he could keep his first name han, but they changed his last name to solo. he moved to the desert in california, and started his life over as a mechanic with a chocolate labradoodle he rescued as a stray (named chewbacca). he kept his nose clean, mostly – a few legal missteps here and there, but nothing serious, nothing that got him caught.
it was through his job that he met a pair of siblings seeking his help to overthrow a corrupt company in the hands of their father. while han was skeptical of helping them, he needed the money, so agreed. they, of course, grew close throughout the course of their scheme, and despite his wariness because of past betrayal, he fell in love. again. too bad he kept fucking it up. they stayed together even after they succeeded in their plans against her father. he even found it within himself to propose, but… that didn’t last any longer than anything else in his life. he was called to meet her and her lawyer on the island to finalize their divorce – and instead of meeting her, his memories came back, and he met the creator.
04. what are some of the events, twists, or turns that the fans voted on ?
he actually knew his parents
mechanic hiring han and paying him even though it wasn’t legal
his parents dying tragically in a car crash when he was a teenager
his arrest
his subsequent escape
not continuing a life of crime when he first moved to california
stray dog named chewbacca
the divorce
05. does your character have any secrets ( big or small ) that they think are private when in reality they were broadcasted live to the whole world ?
han did not have anything particularly that he would be horrified to know the whole world knew – beyond the obvious fact that the whole world now knows his entire life. the only thing that would really, truly upset him is the fact that everyone knows the details of his family. his relationship with leia and all the ways he fucked it up, as well as his shortcomings with his own children.
06. what are the major similarities between the character’s canon life & their reset life ? what about the differences ?
han’s story is mostly point-for-point to his canon story, with minor differences, such as the manner in which he was betrayed and the fact that he didn’t actually kill his betrayer. he also got caught and sent to jail when he was young, and escaped. after escaping he did not continue his life and become the infamous smuggler; he became a mechanic. he just happened to be at the right place at the right time when the reboot versions of luke and leia found him and asked him for this help.
07. what were they bribed or blackmailed with ? why was this chosen for them?
the bribe was a joke. it was the dice that he hung in the falcon, and he threw them in the creator’s face. nothing, especially not a trinket would prevent him from wanting to find his family again. he should’ve known it wouldn’t be that simple. the blackmail came next, and han was surprised to find that it was an expansive list – leia, luke, chewie, ben, jacen, jaina, anakin. of course han broke.

charlie cox. cis male. bisexual. — MATTHEW MURDOCK from ( marvel ) is streaming live ! they’re thirty y/o & a lawyer ; they arrived ( six months ) ago, & they ( do ) remember their old life. fans say they’re [ HONEST + HUMBLE ] but [ EVASIVE + IMPULSIVE ] & associate them w/ red, city skyline, southern gothic, bloody knuckles, church sanctuaries, fighting gloves.
01.when the virtual reality shut down, what was your muse’s reaction ? how did they handle the dark period ? ( if your muse died in canon: how would they have reacted ? )
in truth, matt was fucking terrified. with his vision the way it is, all he can rely on is light and his other senses. when all light is gone and his other senses can’t detect anything, he’s left in utter darkness and silence, with nothing to tie him down to the reality. this is what he imagined hell to be; a torture worse than any physical pain he might have experienced, and an inability to do anything about it.
02. what was their reaction to finding out they were fiction ? how did they feel about the idea of becoming real ? ( if your muse died in canon: how will or did they react to finding out they were fiction ? )
he’s stubborn. matt didn’t believe it at first. as it slowly became a reality to him, he only had one important question – is there crime in the real world the way there’s crime in mine? he would jump on the opportunity to escape the dark period, but he wanted a purpose.
03. before the island, where did they live ? what was their reset life like ? what drew them to the island ?
alcoholism tw; mental illness tw;
matt murdock lived in hells kitchen, new york, son of a ring fighter and a nun. when his mother became pregnant, she was faced with a choice: put the child up for adoption and take time for a penance before returning to her order, or keep her child and raise him as her own but leave the order forever, forsaking the life she dedicated herself to. she chose to stay with her son and his father. what she couldn’t have predicted was the path that his life would take.
matt’s father was a fighter, and he got caught up in a ring where wins and losses were pre-determined. he was often paid to lose, and one day, after accepting his payment, matt’s dad decided to do the opposite. he won the fight fair and square, and as a result, the gangsters involved decided to punish him. they beat him up, of course, but the real punishment was what they did to his son – they attacked matt and blinded him.
matt’s father became an alcoholic, and his mom’s history as a nun became public. the family dynamic became complicated, and they started to spiral out of control. while his health and alcoholic tendencies got worse, her mental health dissolved. she ended up institutionalized when matt was a teenager.
he wasn’t particularly close to his father, after everything that happened. it’s not that he blamed his dad for throwing the fight; his dad didn’t ask for him to be blinded. he just thinks his father owed him and his mom something afterward; support in the form of actual fatherly duties rather than drowning himself in liquor.
with the help of a strange and mysterious mentor through the church, matt slowly learned how to hone his other senses. this, much like his real life, slowly lead him to a life of vigilante justice. a law student / lawyer by day, and a masked crime fighter by night. he wore a ski mask and a black suit. nothing fancy.
he was recently informed that his mother was being transferred to a facility on the island. it was a lie, of course, but matt had no reason to believe differently. of course he set out to follow her. he got his memories back shortly after arrival.
04. what are some of the events, twists, or turns that the fans voted on ?
being blinded by the guy his dad screwed over
his dad becoming an alcoholic
mom’s identity as a nun became public
her refusal to give him up for adoption and subsequently being asked to leave her order
mom’s mental health slowly dissolving as a result of her ‘excommunication’ and her husband’s drinking problem
mom being institutionalized when he’s a teenager
05. does your character have any secrets ( big or small ) that they think are private when in reality they were broadcasted live to the whole world ?
his identity as ‘daredevil’. to him, it is his most guarded secret; to the world, it is the crux of his story.
06. what are the major similarities between the character’s canon life & their reset life ? what about the differences ?
his father’s career, his role as a vigilante, his mother’s identity as a nun, and his job as a lawyer are all taken straight from matt’s canon. his reset life is a huge mess in comparison; instead of losing his eyesight in a freak accident, it was retribution for his father’s actions against what was essentially the mob of fighting rings. his mother’s identity was not a secret to him; she was an active member in his life, until she was institutionalized. he also never became the iconic ‘daredevil’ with the fancy red suit.
07. what were they bribed or blackmailed with ? why was this chosen for them?
he made it clear that he wouldn’t be bribed; hell’s kitchen was his home, and he wanted to go back. he had to be blackmailed. they blackmailed him with foggy nelson and karen page, his closest friends, and they blackmailed him with clint barton, who he loved. of course he stayed.

natalie portman. cis female. pansexual. — PADME NABERRIE from ( star wars ) is streaming live ! they’re twenty nine y/o & a senator ; they arrived ( three months ) ago, & they ( do ) remember their old life. fans say they’re [ LOVING + SELFLESS ] but [ STUBBORN + MARTYR ] & associate them w/ soft makeup, long gowns, wildflowers, quiet shores, braided hair, forehead kisses, holding hands, revolution.
01.when the virtual reality shut down, what was your muse’s reaction ? how did they handle the dark period ? ( if your muse died in canon: how would they have reacted ? )
padmé was dead during the dark period. were she alive, the experience would have been horrific and traumatizing, because her main concern would have been for her children.
02. what was their reaction to finding out they were fiction ? how did they feel about the idea of becoming real ? ( if your muse died in canon: how will or did they react to finding out they were fiction ? )
padmé discovered she was fictional when she met the creator, and, as a stubborn and strong-willed queen and politician, simply did not believe it. she has since come to accept it, in a way, but the whole concept doesn’t have much meaning to her. fictional, in her mind, is like a sort of perspective. maybe the world she was in was, technically, made up. maybe she existed as a fraction of a creator’s mind. did that make her experiences, her thoughts, feelings, and pains, any less real? for her, no. the idea of being ‘fictional’ holds very little weight to padmé because of this.
03. before the island, where did they live ? what was their reset life like ? what drew them to the island ?
abuse tw; pregnancy tw; pregnancy complication tw;
in her reset life, padmé was born on the countryside, and quickly took to a selfless lifestyle. she spent most of her time, even in high school ages, volunteering and working for non-profit organizations in causes she believed in. most people believed she would never be a politician simply because politicians were too “heartless” for a person like padmé, and that’s one of many things she aimed to prove people wrong about. she pursued her career in politics and found herself in washington d.c., working hard until the unbelievable happened – she became the president of the united states of america. it was like a dream, and while she knew it wouldn’t be possible to make large-scale changes so simply, she knew it was a start, and the options were suddenly available to her.
things went awry when she and a man she could never really have developed feelings for each other. he was one of her secret service guards, and he was perfect. he believed in her and supported her, and while she maybe could have gone the rest of her life as president without making any inappropriate moves, he took the first steps. they cultivated and nurtured their relationship in private, which worked well at first, until, during the election run for her second term, she discovered she was pregnant. the situation was immediately complicated, and her first thought was to step down from her position – focus on family, on her children, on the relationship that needed a healthy place to grow rather than a toxic secretive one.
but she hadn’t achieved everything she felt responsible to achieve in her position as president, so she persisted, with the support of her secret lover. despite his support, things went south during her second term, and their relationship got worse. while she couldn’t keep her pregnancy a secret for long she was quiet about the father, stating that her childrens’ biology was their business and their’s alone. but he became angry, explosive, emotionally abusive and, on the worst days, physical. padmé ended their secret relationship while still pregnant, and he reacted as well as she should have expected. instead of letting their relationship end quietly, he strangled her, attacked her physically.
padmé ended up in the hospital, and he ended up in federal prison. the attack resulted in pregnancy complications that, ultimately, she pushed through. her only personal visitor was her estranged single mother, who she hadn’t seen since padmé left the countryside. she was left with a decision to make: move forward with her campaign or stop it cold. her mother said to put an end to it and come home, while her advisors encouraged her to stay in the race and keep moving forward. she chose to keep moving forward; the good she could do for the world shouldn’t be effected by the evil of one person.
unfortunately, later that week, her ex-lover escaped federal prison. it was unclear how that was even possible, but somehow he managed it – which, again, put padmé in danger. and that was enough. she couldn’t live in fear, not for herself or her future children. that’s why she decided to end her time in the white house and move to the island – where she could care for herself and her pregnancy.
she regained her memories long before it was time to give birth – just in time to discover that everything, even the pregnancy itself, had been a lie.
04. what are some of the events, twists, or turns that the fans voted on ?
single absentee mom
dad who split when she was born
surviving the attack by her lover
pregnancy complications
her ex-lover escaping federal prison
05. does your character have any secrets ( big or small ) that they think are private when in reality they were broadcasted live to the whole world ?
it was her relationship with the secret service guy, but obviously that wasn’t a secret. she knows this now, and feels violated and embarrassed about it.
06. what are the major similarities between the character’s canon life & their reset life ? what about the differences ?
the main similarities are padmé’s role as a leader, queen being swapped for president, the illicit relationship that lead to her pregnancy, as well as the manner in which their relationship ended. the main difference had to do with the fact that padmé ultimately had to choose between her children and politics, they couldn’t survive together.
07. what were they bribed or blackmailed with ? why was this chosen for them?
padmé was bribed with the blankets that luke and leia were swaddled in at birth. she likes to think of herself as a strong woman, and she is – but that made her weak. her children, who she never had the chance to connect with, were everything to her. she accepted.

Well, Your Worship, looks like you managed to keep me around for a little while longer. I had nothing to do with it. General Rieekan thinks it’s dangerous for any ships to leave until we’ve activated the energy field. That’s a good story. I think you just can’t bear to let a gorgeous guy like me out of your sight.
