"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence

...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category
It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:
It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall
You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are
While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.
For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.
historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have 😔

As someone who went to a high school with a 12-year-old prodigy, I could say with firsthand experience literally nobody cared that he was young. Actually no, I lied. He had a big group of friends who were dead set on protecting him no matter what. He was in band too. The drum line made sure nothing ever touched him. He was actually quite popular. He wasn't quite a senior 12 years old. At 12 he was a sophomore. But I think my point still stands.
With that aside, I'm actually kind of surprised that Sophie didn't have a big group of girls who followed her around everywhere and took care of her. I mean, I know Sophie's mind reading probably limited her ability to talk to people, but I guarantee if she went to any real high school. She be surrounded by people who wanted to be your friend and protect her.
But then again that just might've been my high school experience

Is it bad that I wanted Wylie to express anger and disappointment towards Prentice when he woke up because he felt like his dad chose the Moonlark over his family? Unlike Sophie who didn’t have a choice in the way her life played out, Prentice chose the life of a member of the Black Swan. He chose to not reveal Sophie’s location, which of course is admirable and beautiful but that cost him being taken away from his family and being imprisoned for what should have been forever.
That’s why I feel like it would have been more impactful if Wylie took some of that anger he felt towards Sophie in the first few books and directed it at his dad for one selfish moment. One moment of true vulnerability where he’s lost and doesn’t know where to place the blame because he feels like so many people are responsible for the loneliness he had to endure. Who knows though, if Shannon gave him an ounce more of anger he’d probably end up being as hated as Fitz by the fandom because some people apparently forget that anger is a very natural emotion to have…

If you as a leftist can understand that
the Trump administration is using the concept of violence against women to oppress transgender people and strip back civil rights
AND violence against women is a real societal issue that needs to be taken seriously, especially when women's safety and autonomy is directly attacked by the same right wing politicians claiming to care about it to further their agenda
Then you can also understand that
the Trump administration is using the concept of antisemitism to perpetuate oppress activists and strip back freedom of speech
AND antisemitism is a real societal issue that needs to be taken seriously, especially when Jewish safety is directly attacked by the same right wing politicians claiming to care about it to further their agenda
Right? ...Right??

Whenever I see someone refer to "Victorian era-" for places outside the UK I'm tempted to start saying shit like "Han Dynasty era Rome", "Soviet era Australia" etc
