Could you explain what/who the pillars of Konoha are and what they do? I see that term all the time but I still don't understand what it is

As far as I'm aware, the term itself was never used in any form of canon material, and that includes the novels. Now, I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I believe the concept originated from the Naruto Retsuden novel where Naruto was narrating and explaining why each of the other "Pillars" are so important to the village, and he indicated that the other 4 members - Sasuke, Sakura, Shikamaru and Kakashi, were always the first people who he sought out for help on really important matters. So in essence, it's a fandom term used to describe the canonically most important and prestigious ninjas in the village. AKA, Konoha's hierarchy.

According to nite-baron's translations of Naruto Retsuden, Naruto at one point says to them while they were sitting round a table...

“Nevertheless... this is my personal affair. Kakashi-sensei... And Sasuke, Sakura-chan, and Shikamaru are all Konoha’s most valuable people. I can’t just ask this of you like this.”

People also often like to use part of Boruto Ending 11 to further highlight the 5 Pillars of Konoha, because the 5 of them are shown together at one point, and they actually create a combination called the Gokō (五光), "Five Lights" in Koi-Koi, which is a Hanafuda card game, and they apparently constitute the most valuable combination of cards in the game:

Which people think couldn't have been a mere coincidence.

A little later in the novel, Naruto thought the following:

We were all together. Naruto looked around at his comrades. Shikamaru, who supports the Hokage from the front and back as chief of staff. Sasuke, who protects Konoha from the shadows with missions in undeveloped land. Sakura, who was dedicated to the development of medical care. Kakashi, who built the foundation for the current Konoha as the Sixth Hokage. We each have different roles but bear the same amount of responsibility.

So all those things were used to formulate the "5 Pillars of Konoha".

As someone who was an Inu Yasha fan first and then played FFVIIR, I see Sephiroth as what you get when you put Sesshōmaru (looks&personality) and Naraku (voice&personality) together.

(Morikawa fits so well with both these villains..)

And not only that...

I think pre-Nibelheim Sephiroth is similar to Final Act-Sesshōmaru while post-Nibelheim Sephiroth is more similar to Sesshōmaru at the beginning of the series.

On the translation: I’m aiming for a more direct, “Japanese-sounding” translation to share the mood of the content more as it is. This will probably cause some sentences to appear weird in English.

On Fuji’s style of speech: he uses a lot of little additions that soften the tone, and most of them are pretty hard to include in English. In general his style of speech is a balance of casual but polite.

I’m still working on Japanese, so there might be mistakes. Please let me know if you spot any translation errors so I can fix them here!

A modern “fix-it” AU soppi made just to indulge my headcanon where I wholeheartedly believe that the person JFM could not let go was actually WCZ and not CSSR. (Mmm think of the parallels between JFM & WCZ / JC & WWX - where their most trusted person left them, and then went and died, never to return…)

JFM: unhappily divorced due to irreconcilable differences, gave up the family house, dogs and half his company stake in exchange for shared weekly custody. Switches every week with YZY.

WCZ: amicably divorced, still besties with CSSR. WCZ codes at home and takes care of WY for most of the year. CSSR travels the world for her job (photographer), and usually takes WY only during the school holidays as she doesn’t want to disrupt his childhood.
