Art Farm-stand : day 10 ... On the left: "This is freshwater, there are no tides" Carved and charred sugar-maple, $3500 ... On the Right: " co-op grocery store follies" Carved and charred sugar maple $3500 ... Both pieces are carved with a chainsaw and then charred using a torch with a shielding tool ( large palette knife). it smelled like burning marshmellows during this step. The one with the large open area on its side is tree bark( and air) indicating that this is carved from a chunk of maple where two large sections of tree were splitting off from a larger section. I get all of my carving wood from neighbors taking down trees, this is my first experience with sugar maple. .. Message me for info 😄! Thanks ! Art farm stand : day 9 : experiment in displaying works on paper. Don't think the clothespins are gonna be the answer, maybe a removable window box with a hinged window /door ? These are both woodblock prints that a friend helped me print at LSU ,in 2005, using a Vandercook letterpress. Both are from editions of 20. I have had these in a flat file since 2005. I have never showed these to anyone, except that I used one of the black paper one as a payment to my doctor in Baton Rouge for care when I didn't have health insurance. .. So much wet paint getting thicker by the minute! I still want to keep working on this piece .
