Hanahaki disease with no known cause and the protagonist spends the entire novel forcing themself to fall in love with different people in their life, thinking a relationship will fix them and make everything go away because that’s what they’ve been told by everyone whenever they ask for help or advice. It only goes away when the protagonist takes some time by themself away from all their would-be suitors, sits down, thinks about a few things and realizes they don’t need a relationship with a specific person, they need to fall in love with themself and their own life instead, and that their fixation on romance above all else is ruining them instead of fixing them like they hoped it would. They’re cured, but more importantly, they’re free.

Bonus points if the protagonist ends up being some flavor of arospec/decides that they never want to be in a relationship for whatever reason.
