i think one of the reasons everyone keeps making stupid fucking posts about the London attack against the two women is because y’all forgot real life exists

y’all forgot that other people don’t care about the differences between lesbians and bi women. y’all were so busying arguing about monosexual privilege and het-passing/straight-adjacent or whatever the fuck privilege that you forgot we’re basically the same in the eyes of non-lgbt people

It wouldn’t have made a difference if both women had actually been lesbians. It wouldn’t have made a difference if both of the women had been bisexual. The reason behind the assault would have been the same: love between two women has been so fetishized and objectified that the men on the bus felt it was their right to force these women to play out their fantasy.

Lesbians and bi women alike suffer from attacks like this. Painting it as an attack against a specific label and not our community as a whole is not how we move on from this. It’s not how we grow.

The billionaire French donors who publicly proclaimed they would give hundreds of millions to rebuild Notre Dame have not yet paid a penny toward the restoration of the French national monument, according to church and business officials.

Instead, it’s mainly American and French individuals, via Notre Dame charitable foundations, that are behind the first donations paying the bills and salaries for up to 150 workers employed by the cathedral since the April 15 fire that devastated its roof and caused its masterpiece spire to collapse. This month they are handing over the first private payment for the cathedral’s reconstruction of 3.6 million euros ($4 million).

“The big donors haven’t paid. Not a cent,” said Andre Finot, senior press official at Notre Dame. “They want to know what exactly their money is being spent on and if they agree to it before they hand it over, and not just to pay employees’ salaries.”

Almost $1 billion was promised by some of France’s richest and most powerful families and companies, some of whom sought to outbid each other, in the hours and days after the inferno. It prompted criticism that the donations were as much about the vanity of the donors wishing to be immortalized in the edifice’s fabled stones than the preservation of France’s church heritage.

Honestly I think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity.

Instead of saying “I’m lazy,” saying “I’ve made a habit of not doing work unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Instead of saying “I’m a bad friend,” saying “I haven’t communicated as much as I should with the people I care about.”

By being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didn’t happen or wallowing in blaming yourself.
