Unique vintage male names, companion to this post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are less of them because people seemed to be less creative with naming their sons. Not sure why.

As an adult still living with their abusive parent, I often find that affirmations meant to empower me are unhelpful at best. They often feel like they're overstating the amount of agency I have as an adult; I've spent my entire life being abused. It's all I know and I have a lifetime of conditioning and nervous system damage to show for it.
All that doesn't just go away now that I'm older than 18, and neither do the material circumstances that keep me here. Even though I have more legal rights and have grown since I was younger, I am still not in control by the very nature of being the victim in an abusive relationship. So, for those who relate, here are some affirmations that might hit different:
My abuser does not have my best interests in mind, even if they think they do.
I am my own person; my mind and body belong to me.
My feelings are justified, and I deserve to feel and express them.
I am doing what I need to survive, and that is all I need to do.
I am doing my best given the knowledge, resources, and support I have.
I am the only person who can decide what is best for me.
My situation is unfair and wrong. I deserve to be happy and safe.
I do not have to engage in toxic positivity; that will only hurt me.
As long as I am alive, there is something good in this life for me - no matter how small.
I have inherent rights just because I exist.
I shouldn't have to deal with this on my own; I deserve support and protection.
Everything I need is something I deserve. Everything I deserve is something I need.
If any of these don't resonate, feel free to discard them. Everyone finds comfort and empowerment differently.

If your apology involves degrading yourself, calling yourself shit or insulting yourself, its not an apology, try again.

I miss having syscourse discussions. The nuanced kind, not the "I'll bite your face off if you disagree with me" kind.

anyway all that to say that if you’re a dropout if you have shit grades if you go to an alt school and are looked down on for it if you’re in your 5th or 6th or whatever year of high school if you’re still getting your GED if you’re taking night classes if you missed out on “universal” high school experiences if you were abused by your peers (because make no mistake, that’s what bullying is) if you were expelled if you were truant every single year if you were homeschooled and got sick of the jokes if you never attended a full week if the whole world treats you like the scum of the earth all because of your high school experience or lackthereof you’re not alone. there’s so many of us that have been beaten down and broken by the school systems we’re subject to and the hostility they breed and the abusive environments they foster. some day we won’t have to be treated like objects of pity or contempt to be swept aside but until then we have each other

Hey, what’s the 90% statistic you’ve mentioned? I was scrolling your old posts and saw you reference it.
Hey!
There’s this prevalent misinformation that’s gone around that “Research shows that DID is only reported to be from trauma 90% of the time.”
The research being referenced was saying that abuse was reported 90% of the time in cases of DID. Trauma is not the same thing as abuse; a car crash is traumatic but not abusive.

hey, saw ur reblog about the legion sys on tiktok and wanted to hear you maybe expand on that post? or share ur thoughts on them?
i’ve liked them for a while but started to slowly dislike them since they unfollowed us + made us unfollow them for simply sharing that smth made us uncomfortable (which is fair, curate ur online space, but it was a bit silly imo) and i’ve heard that they have very radfem like takes (not 100% sure) and that reblog has made me curious as to other things people have to say abt them
-🪐🫀
The comments under this post that talks about why they’re not a good resource:
If I can find it, I’ll link severed-childhood’s take on Legion’s Alpha to Omega document in a separate post :)

I didnt know it had to be said but. Do not encourage fucking children who have no form of support other than the internet to try and figure out their programming. Do not encourage children still in abusive environments to try and get programmed alters to front to ''figure things out''. You are endangering children. You are aiding abusers. If you're an 'education account', and any of your content involves telling people you know nothing about to get dangerous alters to front, you should not be educating anyone. (If you haven't been in therapy or started deprogramming, you shouldn't be educating anyone, either.) These things need to be done in controlled environments with a therapist, who has already spent time working with you and your system, and in some cases somebody else in the room if the alter has a chance of trying to hurt themself or somebody else. Not done by a 14 year old alone in their bedroom following a strangers advice. Do better.
