Do you enjoy reading free fanfics on Ao3? Here are a few things to do to keep that content available:

1. Keep it legal by NOT trying to make money off of it and reporting any you see online trying to SELL fanfics.

I’ve devoted a lot of thought and research to my fic binding policy and I will continue to grant my permission for individuals to bind my work themselves or to pay a reasonable fee to a reputable custom binder for personal use, assuming the binding does not use AI artwork and credits artist’s work used in the binding. I will not accept a gift copy myself, but would appreciate being able to post a copy to my socials to promote the fic and the binder.

2. Don’t review fanfics on Goodreads or leave scathing comments on Ao3. Fics are free work created in people’s spare time and gifted to the fandom for free. Don’t be a dick and rate it on the same standards as published works and don’t debate character motives or canon in the comments. This makes posting stressful and icky. Debate shit on tumblr with people who enjoy that shit.

3. Don’t upload fics to AI. That’s just gross. Send a respectful ask if you want a new scene or a different ending and only if you think the writer is interested in hearing that sort of request. A quick check of their socials can tell you.

4. Follow @ao3org and don’t stress the archive during maintenance. Be gentle with our girl.

the worst thing that could possibly happen to ao3 is it being put on the app store so please stop asking for it because you don't understand what would happen if that went through. ao3's whole deal is it archives EVERYTHING, while the apple app store's whole deal is keeping everything clean and safe. so if ao3 were to have an app all of the 'bad' stuff, including nsfw in general, would have to be censored at best or would be purged at worse. the google play store is more lax but who fucking knows what GOOGLE would police if they got their hands on the archive. do not ask for an app. do not use third party apps. it's on mobile browser functioning perfectly, just fucking use that before you ruin everything for everyone please.

Let's talk about what HER too. There is also what will happen with Hunt, Ruhn, Tharion, Ithan, Celestina and Hypaxia, the war, the Aidas issue: there are so many points being obfuscated. It's okay to be excited about a crossover that we've seen in the making over the last few years, but this is Crescent City: the guys from the other world are going to be secondary characters here, the book isn't about their journey - the next acotar book , which will be about them, will perhaps approach this crossover from their perspective.

can we maybe stop making HOFAS about the ACOTAR ship war and oh i don't know maybe just focus on the epic journey Bryce is about to go on and all the amazing lore and worldbuilding we're about to get?? idk just a thought.

Bryce caught her reflection as she passed a large full-length mirror at the end of the room and stepped closer to take herself in.

The moonlight illuminated her figure and the bruises that peppered her golden skin were stark. The Harpy's blood still soaked her black leggings. Bryce only managed to remove her torn top as soon as she entered the room, but could barely do anything else.

The starry sky twinkling in the distance through the wide glass windows, even as a shadow took form behind her.

A foreign shadow in this world, yet familiar to her.

Bryce let out a quiet sob as her trembling hand extended to touch the smooth ice cold surface of the mirror, she can no longer tell what was real or what was not.

The moonlight lovingly crafted his beautiful face as he stood behind her—a face beloved to her more than anything.

“Hunt...” she couldn't hold back the tears.

His hand slid to her waist as he rested his cheek upon her head. No words came out of him, nothing but the devastation and longing on his face as her soul recalled his last words to her.

His promise.

“Our love is stronger than time, greater than any distance. Our love spans across stars and worlds. I will find you again. I promise.”
