Naming This Blog
This blog name is pretty cool - since it has no hyphens and is actually relevant to my work. It's a combination of "Art As Level" and "Level Up" - since at the time of conception of the idea to have an art blog for my exam piece, I felt like my work would be taken to a new level and I would therefore "level up" my work. So there is now a relationship between the blog and I, since I am the CREATOR. I may make a good icon to go with the name...

Instructions on how to make QR Tattoos: "Try, try and try again"

MAKING QR CODE TATTOOS I spent most of yesterday evening trying to find out a way to transfer the tattoos onto my skin in a way that would allow me to get a crisp image, and a readable tattoo. However what I found out was: 1) The contrast isn't high enough 2) The skin distorts the image 3) Detail is lost through transfer I managed to tackle a few of those problems, and in the end I could just read that last picture. (Though the QR code in the picture itself is not readable) To combat the contrast, I went over the tattoos in pen, however I found that using a promarker bled - so I will be using a fine ballpoint pen. This increased the contrast and potentially the resolution. I can't do anything about stretchy skin. Unfortunately. Yet I think the final method I used (applying glue to the skin) helps with the distortion. The detail could be enhanced by larger tattoos, which I will experiment with when I am not trying to find a white patch of skin to apply it too. Unfortunately in this case, I am not a vampire. To find out how I made them, go to my next post x

To cultivate the relationship between my art and you, the viewers, I have taken a meme that was once popular and reminding you of its very existence through a lovely rendition. This blog also serves a purpose to form a relationship between the artist and the outside world through publishing art through a social media platform, allowing others than my peers to view and critique my work. This will be an interesting experiment to see what will happen when strangers are allowed to see my work and how the tags will attract people from #lotr or #As - the fandoms or the students - or in some cases both. If you have arrived here from my QR code - I welcome you to my blog, I hope you can appreciate my work.
