Hey friends- I’m super frustrated with Etsy (but what else is new). I have always offered free shipping on my stickers, and I’ve sent them in a card with a first class stamp. Missing orders were rare and replaced by me at my cost, no questions asked. It was a good system, and allowed me to keep costs really low for people. Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to do that anymore. Etsy has changed its policies and will absolutely no longer allow me to ship anything without a tracking number. If I try to do so they will not allow me to be paid for that order. As usual I am stuck between wanting to move my business to my own site to have my own policies but also wanting the traffic that Etsy brings. For now I am forced to follow whatever stupid rules Etsy comes up with and it seems like they come up with new ones all the time that cripple independent businesses. The long and the short of it is I will be changing my sticker shipping to media mail price which is $3. That way I will have a tracking number for every order. It will take me longer to ship out my orders and it may take them longer to get to my customers, unfortunately. Everything about this is not what I want to do. I will work to set up a Shopify account so that people can buy stickers directly from me with free shipping sometime in the near future. In the meantime, local orders can always be placed through me offsite to avoid shipping costs.
