Hello, big fan. I've been attempting to improve my art and and your tutorials are a big help. I might've missed it if you've done one but could you maybe do one specifically on noses?
Noses are pretty easy if you just break it down into planes! I think they’re a little easier to understand if you know how they work in relation to the eye sockets.

That’s preeeetty much it haha. Hope it helps!

Hi yes So your art is just really attentive and the way you capture likeness and detail is basically right on. If you could share any tips on how you go about studying features and laying down facial structure I would be really really happy.
Thank you!! Here’s a quick rundown haha ;;
These are the standard proportions of a human head:
Tumblr media
When you start tweaking them you get different lookingfaces!
Tumblr media
You can also take the same proportions and change the shapesof the features and get a new face as well! Amazing!
Tumblr media
So if you want to draw your favorite characters what you cando is figure out their “facial blueprints” and reference them. Let’sdraw that smarmy bastard Hannibal Lecter. Use as many lines as you need to gauge the spacial relationsbetween each feature.
Tumblr media
What shapes make this face uniquely Hannibal’s?
Tumblr media
Let’s apply it all together now.
Tumblr media
It takes practice of course but it’s a good way to study thecharacter’s face! I hope that was somewhat helpful lol Q__Q

Hi! Your newest tutorial about different aspects of a face is so helpful. Does it work for side view or you have to use another technic? And thank you, I truly love you and your art.
It does! If you look at the original post I included standard proportions for profile view. You apply it the exact same way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tbh you can probably use it for other angles too as long as you’re laying down the lines in perspective. The whole point is to be aware of the spatial relations between the features. And thanks so much!!

Hey, guys! I’ve noticed that there are a lot of artists who struggle with “same face syndrome,” or the tendency to draw all their characters with the same face. To help you combat this, I’ve created two different challenges!
The first (pink) one is mainly geared towards artists who are struggling with same face syndrome and want to start branching out. It covers topics that a lot of artists struggle with when drawing faces, such as age, weight, and face shapes. It’s not super specific, so you still have some wiggle room.
The second (yellow) one is a bit harder and is mainly geared towards artists who want to really challenge themselves to diversify their faces. Personally, I think this one’s the most fun to work with despite it being more difficult. Chances are with this one, you’re not going to be drawing a whole bunch of beautiful people. You don’t have to roll for every option on this one either.  A certain combination of rolls from 10/13 of the options may give you a great character idea, and that’s great!
I hope you guys enjoy these! I’d love for you to send me your drawings if you do one (or both) of them.

Thanks so much for your ask! I’ve meant to do a tutorial like this for a long time. This is the way that I draw big girls, though it’s quite a short and basic tutorial. I hope it helps!
the area of gain” part was pretty much taken directly from -here-, a VERY informative and helpful tutorial. Here’s a couple of tutorials that I think are pretty good: link and link.

hey i was wondering how you draw female faces? drawing guys im like hell yeah, but ladies im like hell neh. would you be able to give an example with rey?
Ahhh I’m not the best person to ask for drawing females but um I think generally you just have to be a little more careful with your marks. Everything should be a little softer, more curves, etc. Rey’s a little difficult bc she has a pretty boxy/angular face but her facial features are more delicate.
Tumblr media
Of course these are just suggestions and stuff I noticed and not set rules ;;;; but I hope it helps a bit!!

hi do you guys have any tutorials for a completely newbie at drawing? i'd prefer digital art, but it's cool if traditional art is what i have to try out first before i can try the other
Hi homie!
I recommend checking out  the beginner’s guides to: digital art & traditional art I wrote! They contain my best tips that I’ve learned over the years!
I don’t think you need to learn traditional art first because the skills   will mostly transfer between the two mediums. I do think digital art has a bit more terminology to learn though (you have to learn the digital art program in addition to art theory)
I also think that reading through these fundamental  topics next are useful: color theory, anatomy, and perspective.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for reading! If this post helped, please consider reblogging it or sharing it with your friends! ❤️

Sheet for lady fern and the final lineup of all three ferns together. In real life both the sensitive and lady ferns can grow to 3 feet in optimal conditions, but I wanted more height variety for the environment.

Hi y'all! Folks wanted me to explain how I draw mouths, so here it is! Nothing super complicated, just a really quick and simple demonstration. Another quick note I’d like to add- I’ve always been taught that you should never learn to draw features outside of the face. For example - A lot of young artists will recognize that they need to practice drawing eyes, but then after hours/days/weeks of practicing they find themselves unable to work all this new drawing ability into an actual face. Same thing goes for mouths/noses/brows etc. Get the bulk of the work out of the way on the first attempt! Draw the whole lower half of the face!
