“The real question is, are the elves really fond of anyone but those nasty marauders?” Artemis asked with a shake of her head. “Somehow they don’t like being called slave too much...”

“um okay.” artemis said with a slow nod not really believing her. “did you skip potions today? i don’t recall seeing you...”

                  “like i said it’s a library and you’re reasonably intelligent so i figured we could study together.” bella wasn’t in much of a studying mood. she had prefects duties that night and had barely slept the previous night. “the dada essay? yeah, i finished it this morning before class.” she’d given up on sleeping at around 5am so she’d had plenty of time to write her dada essay. 

“more so than you are.” artemis muttered under her breath as she looked expectantly at her. “good for you. so are you asking to work together for the astronomy paper?”

“okay, no, hear me out. I am absolutely, positively SURE that was Dick Van Dyke. it also may be me hallucinating because i watched mary poppins at 5 in the morning, but that’s probably not it.”

artemis knew the voice without even having to look up. “i meant what are you doing here black.” she retorted as she finally looked up at the girl. “yes, that’s next on my list after i get this DADA essay done, but i think so have you started it yet?”

‘here we go again’ Artemis thought to herself as the girl babbled on about day dreaming after class and the care of magical creatures. 

“Not really, no.” Artemis replied honestly her arms crossed over her chest. “But if you really love Care of Magical Creatures so much, I think there are  threstals outside if you want to take a look at them. That is, if you can see them.”

     closing her phone quickly, the blonde nodded  even though she hated the word ‘ mudblood’. with another sigh, she looked up at the brunette. “ muggle show, Artemis- not mudblood.” she corrected the other quickly. “ I’m sorry if I disturbed you from- what were you doing in the first place?”

“right...muggle show.” artemis often forgot that andy wasn’t like the rest of her siblings and really appreciated muggles. “no, it’s okay i was just working on stupid potions again. can’t let severus and lily beat me again.”

“pretend to see what?” artemis played along with a small smirk on her lips when she saw the way that he was trying to hide the parchment. she stepped closer to him and kissed him as a hello. she was never one to be lovey dovey at all but something about him rab made her want to be at least less bitchy. 

“are you happy to see me babe?” artemis hated pet names but somehow babe was fine? Maybe it was because babe was short for baby which she didn’t mind. 

at the sound of footsteps approaching, rabastan waved his wand at the parchment in front of him—charming it to be unreadable. he turned his head to catch sight of who the steps belonged to. “ah—” his mind was blank, unable to think of an excuse for his shady motion. shit. he shook his head with a momentary pout on his face. “let’s just pretend you didn’t see that.”
