I hate to be the one to say I told y’all, but I told y’all

We all know about the Gatobob controversy.

I’ve been less and less stoked to post stuff about her games since she took her racist stance; but I thought she’d fix it. Because from everything I had seen, I hoped she was a nice creator. Sadly, she posted a mediocre apology, delete it soon after, and later on nuked all her accounts.

That was disappointing enough, but even then, I still foolishly thought maybe once she came back, she could fix things. Turns out, she has the habit of swiping things under the rug.

I recently found an old drawing depicting Strade as a Naz! made by Gato herself. It’s old, and apparently, she never took accountability for doing it. I’ll link it here so you guys can know what I’m talking about.

I never put Gato in a pedestal, as I simply enjoyed her work, but this still is really disappointing to me.

I know not many people follow me, but it felt wrong to simply leave without saying anything. I feel that we as a community should hold her accountable— people shouldn’t send her death threats. People shouldn’t bully her off of the internet, but we should hold her accountable. People make mistakes sure, but this doesn’t feel like a mistake to me. It feels more like a long pattern of behavior that went under my radar.

I sincerely hope she gets better, I hope she grows as a person. And while I still enjoy her characters and her whole universe, I won’t support her in the future, and probably won’t share my art of her stuff around anymore. I hope the people that felt unseen by her, the people who weren’t safe in this fandom and community know that we see them and that we hear them.

Thanks for everyone that enjoyed my art. I know there’s only 100ish of you, but I never expected people to enjoy what I do this much.
