Unfolding The Wing with Karen P - 10 Years of Folded Wing
In this special episode of the A.S.D. podcast, Karen P, founder of Folded Wing speaks to Robin, celebrating ten years of her radio production company and a five year friendship.
Part 1 explores Karen’s days growing up in Southend, landing a dream job producing Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 1, and eventually setting up her own company from her Hackney bedroom.
Part 2 tells the story behind the name “Folded Wing”, getting the Jamie Cullum show off the ground at BBC Radio 2, an insight into “Tipping Points” and a very big surprise!
There’s also an insight into the challenges faced when getting into radio, how Asperger’s can be a positive when aspiring towards a career in broadcasting.
Oh and as promised, the photos as mentioned in episode 1!
1: The “shelfie” in Robin’s bedroom. Can you spot those two favourite compilation CDs?
2: The “chippy selfie”. No finer fish found elsewhere on the Thanet shores. Enjoy listening, and many happy returns to Karen and the Folded Wing team.
