Kind of self explanatory - a fun little date auction night.

Your character(s) will either be up for auction or bidding on another character and at the end, once everyone is paired up, your characters will be given a setting or items for their “date” (for example, a picnic in the park and the picnic basket will be provided for you - this will be randomly generated unless)

Excerpt from the Baberton Press

Many of you will have noticed the commotion, road closures and various diversions along Castle Terrace yesterday.

It can now be confirmed that the body of local police officer Rosie Laughlin was found late that morning. She was thought to have been killed the previous night, after a party at the Green Dove which she was seen attending.

No suspects have yet been named and the area is currently still closed off as investigations are still under way.

→ Background

Camila does her best not to think about her early years of life. Her parents weren’t the best, to put it lightly. They weren’t good for their children and they weren’t good for each other either, constantly screaming and fighting, verbal and physical abuse. Her oldest brother Damien would always be the one to drag them all out of the house when the shouting started. Camila was ten when her father was arrested for first degree murder and sent to prison. Her mother couldn’t cope, had a complete breakdown, and Damien took it upon himself to look after them all. She didn’t know about the gang stuff until she was older, of course, she was just a kid. When Damien met Grace, they moved away. He faked his death to get out of the gang and Camila liked her life with her brothers from then on. Then tragedy struck when Grace was gunned down in the street and killed one day, though gave birth to Andres before dying from her injuries. Then, devastatingly, Damien was arrested for it and put in prison. Three years after this, he was released when they realised none of the physical evidence actually matched up. The leader of Damien’s old gang had killed Grace as revenge for him faking his death to leave them. By this time, the rest of the Nichols siblings had been drawn into the gang life.

Damien had been in Baberton and Camila had been in Mexico, looking after her nephew Andres. Her remaining brother was stuck in the very gang that Damien had worked so hard to escape, and Camila had found herself dating Anthony Salazar. Then, eventually, Damien came back and Camila, Andres and their other brother left with him to go and live in Baberton, a little town somewhere in England, of all places. Camila isn’t so sure about all the serial killing that’s been happening in this town, but she’s just happy to be out of Mexico and back with her brother and she thinks this is the best place for the best chance at life for Andres.

Had a baby girl with Anthony when she was about twenty-one. Baby Christina was taken off Camila after she was born and she never got to raise her, which hurt her heart a whole lot. She misses her every day and wishes she’d done more to get to her, to keep her.

Baberton Christmas

When: Runs until 5th January

The switching on of the town Christmas tree & lights in the town centre will happen on the 4th.

There’s a Christmas Market set up in town that includes stalls selling handmade trinkets and Christmas gifts. Food stands also set up. Your character could have one of their own stall set up if you like.

Rides and mini funfair is set up in the town gardens beside the Christmas market. This includes; Ferris wheel, double carousel (reindeer themed), mini ice rink. Christmas tree maze, bumper cars, mini roller coaster.

Many Christmas themed shows and plays will be running in our local theatre.

A Christmas movie marathon in the local cinema runs through the month.

Drink, dance, and be merry on the 21st-24th at the Green Dove Pub to take advantage of the holiday deals and festive karaoke.

On the 21st, come down to Danny’s Bar for the Christmas themed costume party with live Christmas music and lots of deals on festive style drinks.

Baberton’s new Riverside Diner has a Christmas karaoke party (including costume competition) on the 18th with many offers on food and drink running the whole day.

Santa’s Grotto is up and running in the shopping centre, and the ice skating rink up at the Entertainment Centre has many special deals, competitions and offers going on so head up there with some friends or your kids to take advantage of those.

This isn’t a single standalone event in itself, more like a few mini events and settings through the rest of the month just to give you some different settings or ideas for threads as we near Christmas and you want something more festive.

Harley Morton was born in Bridgefield, a town over from Baberton. She was raised by her parents, who loved and doted upon her. Harley didn’t have the most charmed life, however. She was born poor and she grew up poor. The family eventually found themselves evicted from their home and her father lost his job, forcing the family to move to Baberton in search of a better life. Things were alright. Harley transferred to Baberton High, made some new friends, even falling in love with a boy who lived across the road from her. Casey Peterson was a couple years older than Harley but she didn’t care and the age difference was so slight that her parents didn’t seem to either, which she was glad for. Harley grew to love Baberton and her life here, though before she knew it she found out that she was pregnant! At seventeen! It really wasn’t the plan and she was worried about money and how she would manage... but Casey stuck by her and they both decided they wanted to do this and figure out their way through it.

Harley is pretty scared of the whole serial killer thing that had been going on for the last years. It’s freaky to think about so she really just does her best not to - she’s sure the police have it under some semblance of control... right? Her son Joey is now ten years old and she loves him more than anything else in the world. Well, him and Casey of course. A few years after Joey was born, Casey proposed to Harley and of course she absolutely said yes. How could she not? Everything was falling into place for her, she had her own little family and they moved into a little flat on the other side of town - their own place! However, money was always an issue for Harley and for Casey. They were both fairly poor, something which Harley and they muddled through, managed with what they had. Harley works at the local high school as a receptionist, which doesn’t pay the best and she’s been trying to find some sort of second part-time or nightshift thing, but nothing really comes up, and anyway, she’s not sure she would be able to juggle it all.

Her son is actually Jacob Williamson’s child, not her husband’s. When Harley was seventeen, she used a fake ID to get into a club. She met Jacob there and didn’t realise that he knew full well she was underage and that was the only reason he’d approached her. Long story short, they ended up in bed together. She and Casey had had a fight that same night with too much alcohol fueling their veins. Harley regretted it the next day and even more so when she realised that she was pregnant. Luckily, she could cover it by convincing her boyfriend he was the father, but only after she had gone to find Jacob and tell him - and he’d pretty much told her where to go.

Jacob had been paying her off to keep quiet about her son being his. It upset her but she also knew they desperately needed the money - she and Casey and little Joey. Harley took the money and used it to help with the bills and such and she kept her mouth shut - Casey was the best father anyway. Trouble is, Jacob was recently found murdered and, while it’s sad to think about, Harley is also concerned about that extra money she’s no longer going to get...

Excerpt from the Baberton Press

This morning at half past nine, a body was discovered in the remains of an abandoned building, which had been recently set alight during Halloween night. The incident injured two officers and, now, it seems the fire claimed a life.

The deceased has been formally identified as Jacob Williamson, a local well-known college teacher.

A full autopsy is still set to take place to determine cause of death and the family has been notified.

Local police are appealing for any information that could help in this investigation so the person behind this attack can be caught. Any witnesses are urged to come forward if they witnessed anything suspicious during the night of the 31st October. 

It’s possible the incident is connected to the recent abductions of four local women that happened the same night but nothing can be confirmed at this point.

Name: Zelda Chau Age: 31 Sexuality: UTP Gender: Female Portrayed By: Chantal Thuy Availability: Open

Zelda was born and raised in Baberton, alongside her older sister Marianne. Zelda was quite the opposite of her sister, she was outgoing and outspoken and her big sister was more reserved and faded into the background. Zelda didn’t like fading into the background, she didn’t like being invisible, and she was very confident and popular. Her sister was bullied a lot and, despite being the younger one, Zelda would often try and help Mari out and get the bullies to back off her but it wasn’t always that easy. Bullies don’t really listen to reason and telling them to stop tends to make them want to do it more. She did her best to be there for her sister but they were in different grades and different friend groups so it wasn’t always easy. She wanted to be a psychologist from the time she was quite young. Nobody knew why, it was just something that Zelda latched onto and became quite determined to reach. And when Zelda put her mind to something, she tended to achieve it. Except for that brief time in high school when her popularity and social life took over and studying and everything else was sort of left in the background.

After high school, Zelda turned it around and decided to put all her energy into studying and getting into college and getting where she wanted to go. She kind of stopped speaking to most of her high school friends and she went away to London to attend university. She kept in touch with her sister, who by this point was married to Ross Powell and living a nice enough life of her own. She also kept in touch with her parents but most everybody else she fell out of touch with. Zelda didn’t return to Baberton other than for visits to family during the year and on holidays. She made a life for herself in London, becoming the psychologist that she had always wanted to be, helping people and she dated a little, though nothing too serious. Over the years her hometown has become a breeding ground for serial killers and death and she hadn’t had much desire to come back for good. Then her sister had a baby and found out she had been cheated on in the same week - so she came back to try and help - not just with her sister but with the town as well. So many traumatised people here, she thought it was time to come home and try and help this town to heal from everything it had been through.

During a house party in high school, someone’s drink was spiked with too much and it had a very adverse affect on them. It was meant to be a prank, to get them drunk and take funny pictures and videos of them acting foolish, but it turned very bad after the person collapsed and lost consciousness. Everybody panicked and a lot of people ran away and left the scene, not wanting to be in trouble for killing someone, Zelda included. The next day she found out they had died because everybody left the house and not one person called for an ambulance. She felt very responsible because she was there, she knew this person, and she was meant to be responsible but she’d ran away to save her own ass when it wasn’t even her who had had the drugs! How could she be so stupid? Zelda had this on her conscience for the rest of her life and it pushed her to focus intently on her future and not on popularity and partying.

Kendall had just turned eighteen when her seven year old sister was about to be whisked off into the foster system, never to be seen again. So she made damn sure that her sister came to live with her instead, determined that she could raise the little girl herself. Their addict, criminal parents were no good to anyone, even themselves, and luckily Kendall was able to gain custody of Sienna, moving her into a tiny little flat. They weren’t rich by any means, not in anything but love and fun anyway. They had the best time really, Kendall was never much of disciplinarian or a mother figure. She was the cool big sister through and through. She loved movie nights with pizza and sweets, take out was the majority of their diet (unless social services were doing a check, of course!) Kendall could be irresponsible, always trying to get Sienna to loosen up more, and sometimes Sienna could seem like she was the older one, and that always just amused Kendall. She worked as a prostitute to provide for them, though she never told Sienna this. Her ‘boyfriend’ at the time was someone she met while working and he’d taken a shine to her and sort of stuck around. She didn’t love him, she didn’t even really like him that much but he would show up casually every now and then. He wasn’t official and she didn’t want a real relationship anyway, she didn’t have the time for that. He bored her and she eventually kicked him to the curb for good anyway, though if she’d known about his predatory looks at her sister, she’d have done it long before.

Moving away from Manchester was a bit of an impulsive decision for Kendall. It was prompted by the reappearance of her father one afternoon, while Sienna was out. He claimed he was sober and demanded that Kendall give him back Sienna - though Sienna was now an adult - and Kendall could tell he was on something. She remembered the abuse growing up and that night she started to look for places to go where he wouldn’t be able to find them because she didn’t trust the police to protect them against a mad mad - Sienna wouldn’t remember their parents that well, but Kendall sure did. Coming to Baberton, she could have done the same thing and worked as a prostitute, but she really wanted a little change - the trouble was, she has no experience in anything but sex work, so she went to the strip club and was hired, this time not really being able to hide it from Sienna, but she supposed it was better than knowing she was fucking strangers for money. Right?

Has worked as a prostitute since she was eighteen years old. She had to find a way to support herself and her sister, and she’d had to find it quickly. None of the local restaurants or cafes or bowling alleys would hire her and it was easy to get this job and it just stuck. She always tried to think about looking for something else but the money was easy (most of the time) and her hours were flexible so she could work around Sienna.

Was the prostitute who Jack Harlow approached back in Manchester about having a threesome with himself and Lauren Hayes. Kendall had been about twenty-six at the time and Jack did sleep with her when the other woman stormed out of the room. Kendall didn’t want to get involved in drama, she just wanted to get paid. She didn’t know he was married, though plenty of her clients were, and she didn’t know it was his sister-in-law he’d propositioned.

Sienna was born in Manchester and lived there her whole life. She was raised by her older sister Kendall, as their parents weren’t fit in any way to raise children. They shouldn’t have even had children, truthfully, they were addicts and criminals. Sienna would have been whisked away into foster care if her sister hadn’t been just the right age to take on the responsibility of raising her sister. So she did - taking on a seven year old at eighteen - and Sienna was forever grateful for Kendall. She was the coolest and they lived a nice enough life, poor as they were, in their tiny flat. Her big sister was her best friend, she would always give her makeovers and they’d have movie and pizza nights. Of course they would race to tidy up the flat and make everything look presentable and look like they ate healthy and everything when social services came by to check, to make sure teenage Kendall could be responsible enough. Sienna desperately didn’t want to ever have to leave her sister so she would always take this very seriously, even if Kendall sometimes didn’t. Sometimes Sienna acted like the adult and Kendall acted like the child - but Sienna had a nicer life than she would have had if she’d stayed with her parents or been taken away into care.

Coming to Baberton was a surprise to Sienna. She wasn’t sure why they had to move. Why they had to leave their flat and their life behind. Sienna had friends and she knew she could technically move out and live by herself in Manchester while Kendall went to Baberton but how could she? Sienna couldn’t be without her sister so she went with her. Baberton is a pretty crap town, in her opinion, not to mention there’s a killer running loose. She doesn’t know what her sister was thinking but Kendall tells her to just keep her chin up and make the best of it. ‘Easy for her to say’, she often thinks. Still, Sienna did as she was told, getting herself a part time job in a restaurant called Spice, though waitressing is pretty rubbish and she doesn’t like all the moaning customers. Still, it’s got to be better than Kendall’s job at the local freaking strip club, of all places. Sienna just does her best not to think about that, and enjoys exploring the Baberton countryside if nothing else.

Was raped by her sister’s boyfriend when she was sixteen. Sienna never said anything because she felt ashamed and guilty and he made her feel like it was her fault. To this day, she’s never told Kendall, not wanting her to feel responsible for letting the man into their lives at all.

Is wary of men and dislikes having their attention on her due to this incident and also due to her sister’s job. She doesn’t have a healthy view of relationships, sex, men or anything to do with it really.

Esme and her fraternal twin sister Cassandra have been glued at the hip since they were born. They grew up the best of friends and Esme loves her sister more than anyone else in the world. Though she would have liked to be identical so they could switch places and fool everyone, but Cassandra doesn’t really seem like the type to agree. She’s a bit more reserved than Esme. Esme likes a laugh and a party, she was super popular in school and was always out with her friends getting up to trouble. Though she would drop everything and come running in a second if her sister needed her.

Baberton turned into a killer’s playground for the last few years and Esme is a little apprehensive about it but she doesn’t really think she’s much of a target. She’s pretty sure she’s street smart enough to keep herself safe so she’s not too bothered. There are lots of people in Baberton, what are the chances she’s going to be targeted, right? Esme skipped college and she works in a local cafe called The Hideaway, as a barista. She likes it fine, though she only works to pay her bills and have money to go out with her friends.

Suspects that Cassandra suffers from some kind of eating disorder. She’s always had weird hang ups with food and weight that their parents didn’t seem to notice, but Esme did. She’s always been keeping a close eye on Cass, ready to jump in if necessary.

Esme was involved in a hit and run when she was eighteen. She’s just gotten her driver’s licence and was also finally able to go out and drink legally with her friends. She knew she shouldn’t have done it but she thought she was more sober than she was, so she drove herself home. Esme ran over something but she just drove away quickly and crawled into bed, waking in the morning unsure if it was a dream or not. Cassandra and her fraternal twin sister Esme have pretty much been joined at the hip since they were born. The two girls share a special bond and it was nice to grow up with someone she could always count on. Cass doesn’t know what she would do if she was an only child - the idea is terrifying, frankly! Of course they had the normal arguments growing up, and she’s pretty sure she would hate to be an identical twin, but her sister is her best friend and Cass wouldn’t have it any other way.

She doesn’t feel safe anymore in this town and she just wants everything to go back to normal - but shes pretty sure it will never be normal again, even when the killing stops. She can’t break the habit, though she knows her sister has noticed.
