I'm amazed you knew where to find me. Do you, uh...maybe think of me as just a rock maniac? No, that can't be right

Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you

The original rainbow flags flying at U.N. Plaza in San Francisco on Gay Freedom Day, 1978 | ph: Mark Rennie
These 40’ x 60’ flags were created by the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day decoration committee in 1978, for that year’s parade.
The project had a budget of $1000 in leftover funds, and took place on the roof of the gay community center, where the large strips of fabric were dyed with rock salt and hot water in trash cans. The dyeing process was lead by rainbow artist Lynn Segerblom (at the time going by the legal name Faerie Argyle Rainbow) and aided by many other members of the local LGBT community who stopped by in shifts, as the fabrics required constant agitation. The pieces were then rushed over to a nearby laundromat before being ironed and handed over to lead seamster James McNamara, who sewed both flags by hand, again with the help of other committee and community members such as Segerblom, Gilbert Baker, butch lesbian documentarian and historian Glenne McElhinney, Joe Duran, and McNamara’s partner Paul Langlotz.
The flag exploded in popularity after it’s unveiling in 1978, and a 7 stripe variation began being produced by Paramount Flag Company, Gilbert Baker’s employer, and Baker himself — though both omitted the hot pink fabric due to a lack of availability. In 1979, the flag was adapted into a six stripe variant by Baker, replacing indigo with the more readily available blue fabric and dropping turquoise in order to retain symmetry, and to look better when hung across the lamp posts of San Francisco’s Market Street that year.
Gilbert Baker spent the rest of his life promoting and popularizing the rainbow flag as a symbol of the community, later adding meaning to each stripe of the flag. Sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, serenity, and spirit. Baker would make one more adaptation before his passing in 2017 - a 9 striped variant with a lavender stripe, meant to symbolize diversity. He made 39 copies of this flag with the intention to fly them in San Francisco, for the 39th anniversary of the original rainbow flag.

my little brother tried to show me a "cool trick" where he entered my name and hometown into chatgpt and tried to get it to pull up my personal info like it did on all of his friends, then was absolutely shocked when it couldn't find anything on me
so. keep practicing basic internet safety, guys. it still works. don't put your personal info on social media, keep all your accounts on private, turn off ai scraping on every site that you can, enable all privacy features on social media apps. our info still can be protected, we have to keep fighting for control

now feels like a good time to reiterate that Iranians have been martyred by america + israel already, both empires that possess nuclear weapons, and that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. so now is not the time to joke about america getting nuked-- any retaliation on Iran's part is justified and the only way we escape this situation, but Iran is not going to nuke us, because the entire premise that Iran has nukes is how america justified bombing them and also the exact same rhetoric we used against Iraq and how we killed my countrysmen when there was again no evidence of nuclear warfare. New York City is not going to get fucking nuked. go listen to a podcast or something
