I DID A THING...

From figuring out my identity, to finishing a series I have worked on for 2 years (@triplethreatseries go watch) to getting over heartbreak, and sometimes change outside helps the change inside. From the moment I was able to say I am gender queer, I have felt a sense of freedom. It is a long road to get voices out your head of what is acceptable and what isn’t, and fortunately I have friends and family who love and support me. Thank you to all of those people who educated me and helped me figure out who I am and break free from the cage I had trapped myself in!! INVISIBLE WAR PREMIERE

It has been one hell of a wonderful week and to top it all off, the premiere of Invisible War! After the long wait of 3 years, the film is complete and it was absolutely wonderful to catch up with the cast and crew (albeit virtually) after so long and see where everyone is at the moment!!! And was just lush to be with my family for it :)

SEASON THREE OUT NOW!!!

It is here! Finally!! I am so proud of the cast and crew for this new season! Wow! I learnt a lot! Editing, Sound Design, Sound Mixing, Colour Grading etc, and I am so proud!!!

I have already had some great feedback from people, which has been wonderful, and now I just can't wait for people to see Season Four! But we'll relish in this a little longer :)

Today I am 6 years sober, and with everything that’s been going on atm and women sharing their stories, I started thinking about my drunken days. Nights where I would be paralytic drunk and wake up to a man sticking their hand between my legs. Nights where I would be paralytic drunk and wake up stark naked and only finding out after the fact what had happened the night before. It took a long time for me to acknowledge that by blaming myself for those situations, I was #victimblaming. I have only very recently gotten to a place in my life where I do not blame myself for the times I was assaulted when drunk. I have an addiction to alcohol, and I take responsibility for my drinking and my actions. However, me being drunk did not give men the right to touch me without my consent! I also do not blame myself for the clothes I wear, for the time I walk home, for travelling alone or anything else! INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

I spend a lot of my time taking photos of myself to try and find the most acceptable content to put out on my social media due to the constraints dictated to me by an industry that has for a long time set out dos and donts for women in the acting profession. Don’t get me wrong, I love photography and self portraits is one of my favourite things to express myself, as I am forever on a journey of self discovery. But for today, given that the theme for this year’s #internationalwomensday is #ChooseToChallenge, I stopped the photoshoot I was conducting (and getting annoyed at myself for not looking ‘great’) and decided I’m gonna post this! Because this is me on a regular day! And I choose to challenge the ideals that content for actors has to be one particular thing. #IWD2021 Be fierce, be true, be kind! This weekend has been a tough one. On Friday, we celebrated the birthday of DAVID BOWIE, one of my absolute heroes. Today marks 5 years since his passing. This is a small homage to him. You inspire me, remind me to stay true to myself and my growth. That discovery is essential. It is by far a lesser world since you are no longer in it. Here’s to you, David, may you have found peace and love in the stars.

SOCIAL LIES

This is a photo of me that I took today pretending to be straight back into work. It’s not true. I did not do work today except for this little photoshoot and some editing on photoshop. 

A lot of us feel quite defeated when we see the lives led by some of those we follow on social media. Social media is dangerous to compare ourselves to. Lots of it is staged best to service the agendas we have in our lives or careers. It is not something to take literally and with no scepticism. We largely set out to highlight our best selves and lives, which is not a bad thing. In a way, it can be a way of manifestation. But, the caution comes to those comparing themselves and their lives to those seen on these platforms. 

In every interview I’ve watched recently when someone is asked what advice they would give to anyone, the answer has basically been, ‘don’t compare yourself or your successes to others’. Be true to your journey. Look for joy wherever you can find it and don’t feel pressured to make sure it’s shared and seen by the rest of the internet. Authenticity comes from being in the moment, our moment. Our successes are still successes. Although to many, I may not seem successful, I feel very much so given that I have created a webseries, released two seasons this year already, and was able to shoot and edit a further two before the next lockdown happened. It’s a webseries on instagram, I understand that, but it is my success. 

Don’t lose motivation to push yourself towards succeeding your dreams, but don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back for every ‘little’ success you have along the way!

CAST AND CREW SCREENING

Every season I've done of Triple Threat, I always wanted to do a cast a crew screening. Before Lockdown happened, we were gonna have it in the cinema! But, alas, it's not meant to be atm. So we had a mini one with the crew! Anna alas was in Italy so joined us on Zoom, but it was just wonderful that everyone could see the hard work they put in and we could have pizza and chill and exchange notes, and then do possibly one of the saddest things ever, and say goodbye to Callum Needham (The Runner) who is heading back to Australia!

Callum, it's not gonna be the same without you! Thanks so much for your incredible support throughout the whole TT journey and going above and beyond always! It has been an absolute privilege and I very much hope we get you back for the next big thing ;)

World Aids Day

Today is World Aids Day, a day we come together and stand in solidarity with people who have in any way been affected by HIV and AIDs. Around 33 million people have lost their lives so far to this disease. Please raise awareness and give where you can to charities trying to end it!

I Get By with a Little Help from my Friends

So, I am not an editor. This is the first thing you should know when reading this. I dabble in editing. Editing showreel scenes and bits and bobs, but this, editing seasons three and four of Triple Threat is a big one for me. Season one was left in the very capable hands of Cullan Nhara FitzGerald, but as he has moved onto working on his music, and I don't know any other editors at this time, I have had to take on this task. And at the same time, learn how to use a new editing suite. This is where friends come in. Thank the heavens that Cullan agreed to help teach me and also check over the work I had done to give tips and critiques.

With a little help from my friend, I have been able to cut the two seasons together ready for a cast and crew screening in a couple weeks :) After that they go off to sound mixing and sound design by another wonderful friend and then they will be ready to air!!! And I can't wait!

Moral of the story, you can learn any new skill, you can achieve anything in life, but it's always so much easier to get by with a little help from your friends.
