just finished watching jentry chau vs. the underworld and that last episode had me BAWLING 😭

please watch this series, it's so good with so much amazing chinese lore and these great characters and a wonderful storyline that's such a good balance with the animation and personality and even a really cool touch of horror, plus the fucking SOUNDTRACK

it's 110% worth the watch and I swear the first episode will have you in its clutches immediately

People underestimate how much trauma Nya truly has gone through/faced.

Okay, yeah, there’s all that typical ninja stuff, but think about it:

Remember back in S11 when Lloyd, Nya, and Zane had to break into the Explorer’s Club and they came across that mirror that showed their deepest fears?

The one where Nya saw herself normal?

Yeah, that one. And just what happened in Crystalized??

Mhm, you guessed it; she was powerless!

But a person’s greatest fears can change with time and circumstances. Take Dragons Rising for instance, years away from any of the others (especially Jay) and that fear that she is shown in the Phantasm Cave, that the love of her life would forget her-?

Yeah; that.

This woman has had both of her deepest fears shown to her in some mystical/paranormal way—those fears that are so great and devastating even just to think about that they’re locked away in the subconscious—and that’s right; they become reality.

Ninjago, please let us see some mention of this or some form of breakdown. 🙏

I drew inspiration from a LOT of Top Gun 1&2, and through way too much research basically learned the basics of flying a plane. whoops

Some extra behind the scenes about my sequences (the final third of the episode) below:

when Sammy does CPR on the steggo, that's based off real CPR that I watched videos of veterinarians do on cows and elephants!

post-epipen, the steggo's pupils originally blew out and it started twitching and seizing for a few seconds instead of just popping right up in a panic. I looked up horses having seizures for reference, something that took my youtube algorithm ages to recover from

at one point in the animatics one of the engines blew out, but that was deemed too unrealistic :,(

the outside of the plane and the inside of the plane are two different sets, so shooting the thagomizer breeching the side of the plane took a bit of finagling

the crash landing originally took a bit longer, and as the wheels of the plane came down it clipped the tops of the trees in the forest below, causing debree to go flying into the engines

in the shot where Ben talks about his "girlfriend", the full recorded take had him doing this weird guffaw-wheeze that was so freakin hilarious. Sadly they took it out, but to my friend geramiah and I, it's forever immortalized in this image i sent to him as we laughed over it
