Leaving Tumblr

Thank you to everyone who follows me here. I’ve been thinking of leaving tumblr almost as soon as I started using it because I don’t enjoy the user interface. I was hoping to be able to share my work with others who don’t have access to Instagram, but I don’t like not being able to reply in a way that makes me happy so I won’t be posting here anymore and will probably delete my tumblr in the next week or so.

If you would like to keep following me, I post daily on Instagram at ashley_dangtran. I also post on Facebook under the page Ashfon. I also don’t like Facebook, but use it for the same reasons I started using tumblr. (It probably won’t be deleted because I’m mainly posting for my grandmothers benefit who can’t understand how Instagram works). I apologize if this inconveniences anyone but I hate the way I can’t communicate properly here.

@venombitch Because I can’t respond to replys on tumblr this is the best way I knew how to share my supplies with those who ask. Unless someone knows a better way?

#ashfonfaq I’m often asked what supplies I use and have been meaning to get around to making a little faq.

1. I plan all my drawings with my Staedtler Mars Technico lead holder and I use Non-photo Blue lead. This also requires a staedtler led sharpener but I’ve been using this lead holder ever since I found it in college. You can use various types of lead and have easy sharpening with the feel of a classic pencil as opposed to a mechanical pencil. Highly recommend! #staedtlermars

2. Next I do all my outlining with Sharpie Pen Stylos. I used to use Stabilo fineliners because they are cheap and come in many colors, but switched to the Sharpie pen stylo recently and have grown fond of it. I also do most of my writing with this pen. It does not bleed through the paper unlike a regular sharpie. It will say so on the packaging that it will not bleed. #sharpiepenstylo

3. My favorite this to color with are the Sakura Gelly Rolls. I use both the Moonlight and Soufflé set. After I color I outline a second time with my Sharpie pen. #sakuragellyroll

4. I had a hard time finding colors like brown and grey in gel pen form, so I also use Zebra Mildliner Highlighters. I don’t love this product because it can get Polly and also tear up the paper if you aren’t careful, but I still use them often and have yet to explore other options. #zebramildliners

5. I don’t like the Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, so I use Uni-Ball’s Signo Bold white gel pen and I’m in love with it. I’m curious to find more white ink options. #uniballsigno

6. The journal I use is a Japanese journal called the Hobonichi Techo. You can check them out on their website Hobonichi.net. I use the original size. The Hobonichi has Tomoe River paper which is very thin, but also bleed resistant. This is my first #Hobonichi and I am deeply in love and plan to buy another next year. #hobonichitecho #ほぼ日手帳
